Posted by: Direct Question ()
Date: March 12, 2017 03:04PM

I have been given a position in Tysons, and I need to make my daily commute 4 days a week from Clifton. I am looking for feedback as to the quickest, most direct route, My ideal arrival time in Tysons is 10am, and my return trip to Clifton should have me home no later than 4;45pm

This commute is Monday thru Thursday.

What part of Clifton do you live in - east or west of town? East of town I'd take 495 and use the express lanes. At that hour another option is 123 north but I think it might be closed right now from RT 29 to Jermantown road.

I did that God awful commute twenty years ago. I gave up on 123 - way too congested. I used to take 29 to Lee Highway at Fairfax Circle, go a mile or two then left on some road (Cedar Lane?) and snake through the back roads to Tysons. Took about an hour on a good day. I have no idea what the options are now, but I hope they've gotten better, not worse.

Nothing, that is, except Arthur Treacher's extra tasty Golden fish and chips!

Go to the Burke Station VRE and take the 495 bus.

It goes straight from the VRE station to Tyson's.

If you must drive... Waze it. Too many factors may derail your best laid out plans.

Yeah leave your house at 9:30am, take 66, be at work by 10am. Normal people usually get to work by 8am-9am so all the 66 traffic dies down by 9:30am.

...or ya know have that bitch siri tell you which way to go.

Clifton Rd N to Braddock W, turn right to go north bound on Rt. 28 to 267 east to Tysons. It might seem a little out of the way, but I bet it would be pretty quick. Especially when I66 gets so heavily backed up.

You don't want to get on 28 before 66. Take Stringfellow then cut through Chantilly to get on 28.

Given the four days a week and the bankers hours this seems like a troll job. That said, I made a similar commute for almost twenty years. It blows big time. The worst part is its 100% unpredictable. One day 123 is the best way to go, the next its 495, and of course there are the days where every route is a complete cluster fuck. Good times.

Why do people drive an hour or more to get to work, then another to get home?

Wake up morons.

Hey guys, sorry for necroposting. However about travel route to tysons it takes probably 4 hours without stop on a car. But is it safe to go everytime from one point to another? Because I think that long and frequent travels are not always good because of the safety. Most of the times I go from Puerto Vallarta to Guadalajara that takes for me 5 hours. However can I call this safe travel from Puerto Vallarta in Mexico ?
