Late this afternoon, the FBI let Chief Roessler know its portion of the risk assessment process regarding the officer involved in the January 16, 2017 shooting in Herndon is now complete. No credible threat to the officer has been found. The Chief intends to release the officer’s name after he meets with the officer and after the Chief notifies a federal court judge, in compliance with the judge’s order from February 8. The timing of the name release is dependent upon the court at this point.
