NoVa streetracing?

Is there a streetracing scene in NoVa? I don't have a good enough car to participate, but I feel like watching a race would be a cool way to spend a friday night.

There used to be, back in the 80s and early 90s. It was great!

Greenbriar, Possum, ConCraft, Aldie, Nokesville, and so many more.

One time, the police surrounded a parking lot in Nokesville and issued trespassing summons to everyone. Even seized a few cars. I remember getting my attorney to go to Warrenton, to the courthouse, and had my defense... It was rock solid.

Anyways, my friends and I got off, the lawyer got rich, and the poor suckers who didn't stick with the plan, pled their cases and lost (they went first).

I don't think racing has been "big" since the mid-late 90s.

I even remember in PG County and SE DC on V, etc., the crazy nights where we'd watch them run until 2 or 3 in the AM.

Those were the days.

V street was the best, cops would chase us so we would just go to route 50 in maryland. The was the best time on Friday and Saturday night. Not much fighting, no gun shoots. As far as now yea get caught racing and your car is gonna be gone asap. GO TO A TRACK!

Speaking of racing tracks, where is a good spot to race within say a 3-4 hour drive of here anyone can race if they pay the fee to get in?

Used to hit that track in manassas when it was there- sad it closed!

I just want to see what the 'ol grocery getter (with a few mods ;) can do. :)

Thornburg on 95 south below Fredericksburg. Has a road course, an oval, and a drag strip.

No arrive and drive at Dominion yet, gotta join a club. For a rookie wanting to try a road course, best option is Summit Point, WV.

there used to be quite of bit of street racing in fairfax and woodbridge/manassas 2001-2008ish. Used to meet at the shell in Burke and run on 123. Cinderbed was another spot.
MD was on fire back then too. There are still a few spots in MD with races but not like it used to be. There was a spot we'd hit that was real hot in 2008 or so, every wednesday night. There would be nights where there was 100 fast cars and 10+ cars came out on trailers running for big bucks.

I brought my 63 Chevy Nova up to the Shell in Burke. A stroked small block with a glide. Nobody would run it.

If I choose between a game and real life, then I would choose a race in real life. Yes, it's dangerous, but it's just an unrealistic adrenaline rush. My brother recently started street racing and it's very cool. I'm looking for a car to try myself in this. I love cars and speed and I think I would be a great racer. What cars could you recommend for my first races? I found great models on RADICAL | EXTREME and would like to know your opinion. I have studied many reviews and here are the most detailed reviews for each car!
