In a challenging budget season, they are wasting money on this (uuuugh), when they are so many other 'needs'.

a great number of sites have totally separate web sites - possibly served by different servers

the form factors are simply not alike, the "PC html 666" is a bad idea from the start and doesn't scale

Motif runing on X windows (from 1980x to present) has automatic re-layout of forms (run-time, no coding required).

Oddly, the power that be decided that HTML should be an inner program that fakes a desktop GUI (but not all of it), which is fakely supported by the web browser (but in a variety of ways), which is then ... SHOW ON A DESKTOP that is already more capable. GENIOUS !!!

X window (since 1982) (and then later PDF on X windows, and then with Motif) did more that html + webrowser from the start.

================================

it's a desktop emulated by an emulator on a desktop on a desktop, on most systems today

and you wonder why it's 8 gigabytes to install and slower than in the 1980's?

that's fucking why

a good question is why keep the "old PC layouts". it will just be a bother maintaining both pc and iphone versions.

the cell phone version (640x480) is good enough.

most web sites in the 2000's running microsoft servers gave everyone with an older pc a pain in the ass: they made web pages 1024x768 - which was one way of forcing everyone to upgrade their pc. the microsoft camp continually attacked consumers. to even shop for a computer you had to already be upgraded (or perhaps inconvenience by panning: but usually it would just cause the computer to freeze). they were laughing at it and rolling in money, 1998 and 2000's.

another issue is that cell phone "needs" constantly change so that some things that worked earlier no longer work today

finally, an older version of html formatted for phones would be stable at first: but it would be attacked to not work or was already attacked

the forced upgrade people at major software/hardware makers are experts at obstruction and diversions

^^ and in addition to being sacks of shit, they are also just bad coders hired not by skill but by who they know ... and often haven't even studied good programming practices - yet are causing millions of manhours lost every time they get to their "coding job". that and they allow hostile countries to submit code becaus ... IT"S FREE (free and very harmful to USA of course)

today's software industry is just an outrage, though the situation is nothing new - attacks by big companies have been continual from the get go

like anything else, their plan will fail and it will cost taxpayer money to fix on a *regular* basis ... which is exactly why they do it. it's an old government contracting trick to always keep technology on a gov contract broken. very old trick
