Yes. All of us would only care if the best donuts in Fairfax were at the RTC. But isn't.

I have heard numerous complaints about the parking situation at the Towne Centre at Reston. However, what you fail to understand is that allowing customers to pay for parking actually helps both retail establishments and the customers themselves.

It is a simple matter of economics that most people fail to understand. Upon closer scrutiny and after applying several basic principles of spend theory, people being to understand that parking fees are directly related to the increase in revenue in retail businesses. This is also commensurate with the success rate (as determined by number of days in business per square feet of floor space).

So, if you will take the time to understand some basic retail and socio-economic theories, you will actually enjoy taking part in the privilege that is paying to park at retail centers.

We've been through this before Bob. That study only holds true for certain types of businesses. For other types of businesses such as movie theaters charging for parking merely increases the costs of the service to the consumer. For businesses which depend on foot traffic policies encourage people to conduct their business and leave ASAP are killers.
