I doubt that anyone has ever escaped from the red onion successfully, but one thing to point out is that if you escape into Pound, VA you're escaping into literal wilderness.
You could go 15 miles up the mountain and be fucked up by cougars and wild dogs, or another 15 miles into town where you'll be fucked up by pissed off coal miners and staunch conservatives. It's a little like Alcatraz, even if you were to escape you're escaping into an even worse nightmare.

As bad as Red Onion sounds, it is not as bad as the supermax in Florence Colorado.
In Red Onion, some of these guys in seg can come out twice a week and sit at a table with 3 other guys and fold napkins. They can talk to each other while they are doing it.

Well.... It's obvious that who ever these guys are who are so fixated on Lars Hanson must be the true cowards. In prison we call you guys "Cell Gangsters". I was there the night when Lars killed my friend David. And I was too afraid to do anything about it.
