Anyone ever hear something like this?:

Read somewhere that the last Japanese military men gave up the fight in something like 1975 on some remote islands...Japanese Government had to get these guys commanding officer to come out and tell'em to quit, as their orders were to fight until told otherwise by their commanding officer...

Even though they had fired shots at people in the 60's and 70's, no charges were filed, as these guys were technically following orders...

Also one U.S. Army regiment. U.S. casualties on that island exceeded the total strength of the Japanese forces. Ugly sign of what would happen if we had to invade the Japanese home islands.

Well there might have been No US casualties only a third mushroom cloud

Had a relative that worked in American Samoa in the 50s and they told me that they were instructed not to go into the rural areas alone as they occasionally found a Japanese hold out.

Unlikely.

Most Japanese cities had already been laid waste in the air campaign. The firebomb raid on Tokyo produced more fatalities than the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima. Allied naval and air efforts had already almost cut Japan off from outside resources. Despite this there were hardliners in the army and the government who favored continuing the war in hopes of obtaining a favorable peace, even if it meant destroying the country and killing off a large portion of the remaining population in the process. Against such fanaticism another city or two getting nuked would not have made much difference.

keep em flying says if the Japanese had not surrendered we wouldn't need to invade. We would simply drop another atomic bomb. My point is if two atomic bombs, the Soviet entry into the war and a number of other factors had not been enough to force Japan to surrender, a third or fourth atomic bomb would not have been enough either.

Joke is on you, Round Eye!

You drop 2 atomic bombs on us and 30 years later, we own the auto industry and the consumer electronics industry. Imagine our dominance had you not bombed us. Trump would be our running dog.

If it had not been for us turning your country into a funeral pyre, anime would of never existed.
