The area of condos and apartments back there in Cardinal Forest has always been sketchy or for the 25+ years I've been in the area, it sure has. It's pretty sad how bad it is now. How the hell has this been allowed to continue for this long? The Police Dept is across the street, for God's sake! (But that's a whole other lost cause). The elementary school is ranked 820 out of 1,095 schools IN THE STATE OF VA! They may as well condemn the fucking place. Even though the roads here closely resemble those of war torn countries, West Springfield is a mid-upper class income community. Trump is finally doing what should have been done years ago-- hopefully this saves Fairfax County from complete destruction.

Where did you get the quote of Cardinal Forest being ranked 820 out of 1,095? That is just an alternative fact. It is a good school. As is West Springfield HS. Seriously, where did you get your numbers? Our kids go there/went there and we have always found it a great school.

I think they may have got them off here....

But call it what you will, I have to agree w/ Animals--- I grew up here although I went to a decent elementary school (not Cardinal Forest) I know plenty of horror stories about the school and surrounding area. Unfortunately, this school doesn't make the cut (in my opinion). Prepare your kid for success and send them elsewhere. The risk isn't worth it... not sure about you but I'd rather avoid having my child exposed to gang violence

I've never had any issues while being in Cardinal Forest.

Don't diss Cardinal Forest. The 13 years I went there were some of the best years of my chilhood.

Did someone get fired from Cardinal Forest elementary?

Ya I moved to condos in W. Spfld years ago as a single. Was mostly singles and older or very young couples... maybe 1 or max 2 kids. Now It's like my child is the only white native English speaker. Everyone has 2 or more kids crammed into 2 bedrooms. I'm dying to get to a better place. The crime in my neighborhood is not bad but this MS-13 stuff in other part of Sprfld scares the shit out of me. Homeschooling might be the way to go when it's time for schooling. The townhomes on Forester area are nice and safe and so are the single family homes.

AGREE! The townhouses are really cute. But man, once you go back toward the condos it's a different world. Probably why so many parents request to transfer out of bounds to Keene Mill.

West Springfield has become terrible. The houses are all old and crappy - no new development. Everything is just old and run down. It used to be a place for middle class families and military - now filled with immigrants. Quality of the schools has gone down too. WSHS used to be a great school, now it's just awful. Get out of this area.

Just about the only republicans or libertarians I know live in W. Springfield.
I'd say Orange Hunt is nice, so it NOT ALL GETTO. I think the "other Springfield" is main that land of apts and ugly McMansions with not style just 16 roommates on Backlick & Amherst area and by Kmart.The first neighborhood on the north side of the mall is now all renters and its now gettoish as referenced by Lee HS and it's issues.
