Then drive your kids or get them a taxi. Actually, judging from your writing you are probably a 31 year old single parent working at your local Giant and driving a 1985 1 seat moped. Looks like the young'ns will have to suffer riding the bus.

FCPS bus drivers typically have big guts and big butts, but most are decent people.

I am willing, however, to make an exception here for Linda Farbry and Tina Simpson.

The former, a truly evil woman, never met a piece of chocolate she did not like.

They ain't all fat! I walk my kids to the bus stop most mornings and their new busdriver this year is a TOTAL doll. I'd say she's early 20's, tall and blonde...with an awesome body.

The wife smacked me upside the head for lookin'!

I live across the street from a bus parking lot. Some of the drivers 'arm' their car alarms at 615am (when they leave to start their bus route). The great part is their cars are parked facing our kids bedroom so we get a wonderful pre-dawn wake-up. Not like 6 and 8 year olds need to sleep.

Good times...

Do-

you need to do something.

Why not start by making a few phone calls and sending a few e-mails detailing this behavior to Linda Farbry et al., and see what responses you get?

About Us

The Office of Transportation Services is responsible for providing the safe and efficient transportation of all eligible students to and from schools and school activities each day. To accomplish this monumental task, a team of dedicated routing, safety, and administrative specialists combined with a host of drivers and attendants work together to maintain a high level of service for all of our clients.

Notice to Parents

In case of emergencies such as road closures, accidents, or weather related road problems, drivers may use safe transportation-approved alternate locations to pick up or drop students.

Drivers will return children to their schools:

* If there is no safe transportation-approved alternative stop;
* If the driver has any other concerns regarding the safety of releasing a student at a regular stop; or,
* If a child expresses concern, for any reason, about getting off of the bus.

I put curtains, shades, and blinds in my window. Now light from outside only enters when I want it to and, headlights, police lights, and sunlight do not wake me up

Wow congratulations! You are a clever person. How are the blinds at quieting a car horn pointed at them 60 feet away?

Call Directory Assistance (411) and get the telephone number for Linda Farbry.

She lives in Springfield on Brian Michael Court. I think it is listed under
John Farbry.

Call her when this nonsense starts. Be sure to block Caller ID as at least someone in that household might be a cop.

So, did they just start parking buses there? Or are you one of the tools that move next to an airport and then complain about jet noise?

Its a residential neighborhood. Hardly an airport. I live across from the school. Aside from an inconsiderate bus driver it is quite peaceful. I hardly think moving across the street from a school qualifies for the anticipation of honking horns at 6am.

Obviously you are much more intelligent than me so I have to offer my personal apology to someone as smart as you.

I do believe testing the horn is part of the Federally mandated "pre-trip" inspection required of all commercial vehicles.

I'm not smart, but if I was looking at houses, I'm smart enough not to buy one across from a school with a bunch of buses parked out front. Early weekday noise is a given...

No dimwit, they do not beep the bus horns. Even though you are 'pretty sure they have to test the bus horn' you are indeed mistaken.

No it is not the BUS noise I am commenting on. I is the bus driver arming his own car alarm with the horn at 6 am. Why would you consider this a 'given?' So you believe beeping your horn in a neighborhood at 6 am is to be expected? you sir are an idiot.

Idiots are those who buy homes near Churches, shopping centers, schools, or parks and then dont think there will be activities at all hours involving lots of people and their noise.

Keep trying. Just sign in using a different name and even by the law of averages you will eventually say one thing intelligent (though after the 'I have blinds;' 'I do believe testing the horn is part of the Federally mandated "pre-trip" inspection required of all commercial vehicles:' 'move next to an airport and then complain about jet noise?' - you are setting a record of being a real dummy...

If they are not blowing the bus horn, then they're not doing a proper pre-trip. This is grounds for disciplinary action.

You should report them.

They are also supposed to do several air brake tests, one of which involves "pumping down" the brake system. This is also quite noisy.

Definitely report them if they're not doing these tests...that's more important than the horn test.

Last thing dono, if the bus drivers are doing something with their personal cars that annoys you, call FCPS Transportation. They will take your complaint seriously and take corrective action.

Linda Farbry lives on Brian Michael Court in Springfield. Her telephone number is listed but I am not posting it here. Why doesn't he/she call her one morning when the beeping starts?

Dono sounds like he/she would rather rant than get a problem solved.

I would just get up early, have some coffee, wait and watch to see the offending car (assume the lights blink with the horn) then leave a note. If that doesnt work I am sure letting the air out of the tire would send a message.

They are just not thinking.

Also they probably figure if the brake-bleeding (pretty loud) or roaring school bus engines with low torque dont wake you up their horn wont.

You have the e-mail addresses.

You have the physical addresses.

You are going to let us know which course of action you take, right?
