So apparently Alexander Case, principal of West Potomac, was put on leave a few days ago after getting caught hooking up with a female employee in a closet.
There was some sort of staff meeting after school today where people were briefed of the basic facts. His fate has yet to be decided.
He's likely to get fired or moved to another school.
He always told us we went to the World's Greatest High School (which was ironic, considering our low test scores and all the ghetto degenerates).

I've had kids at West Potomac for the past 7-8 years. This is very disappointing.

While this would indeed be a juicy tale if true, a couple disgruntled employees have been trying to spread these falsehoods for a while. We know the principal is just doing his job and taking care of business. It is a standard practice to look into any allegations before confirming there is nothing there.

As a maintenance man with keys and codes to nearly every door in the schools I have walked in on teachers, custodians, administrators even lunch ladies and bus drivers getting it on at least a dozen times over the last 11 years. It's what people do and I just close the door and apologize when it happens, it's nobody's business except for the couple involved.
One time I walked in on two female teachers going at it on a teacher workday. They were quite relieved when I told them I would not report them.

FCPS conducts investigations only when there are credible sources and reason to believe the allegations are factual. They do not chase down every single rumor. Everyone will just have to wait to see how this plays out. More than likely transfers. That's what usually happens.

They were caught. There is evidence. Otherwise, this would be swept under the rug by human resources and neither would have been suddenly suspended especially not during the spring when the next school years needs need to be attended to. It would be horrible if they gave him a slap on the wrist--another assignment and she was fired. It would speak volumes as to the human resources philosophical views as pertains to ethics.

Men in positions of power at some point begin to feel untouchable. Alex's wife is a pudgy little thing but still the mom to his two young kids. He is no prize by any means with his fake over-exuberance and high screechy voice. He's also a short little pudgy effer, but this year showed up without his glasses and a new hairdo. He was a fast riser headed for Gatehouse and beyond. The rumors are not. He and the above named mistress are guilty as charged. They will never return to the World's Greatest High School.

There's a lot of bs going around about this, but I just talked to one of the teachers about it and they said that the school hasn't even made an official statement to the teachers. Also apparently the thing with someone walking in on them isn't true. The investigation has to do with the misuse of funds when Case was receiving an award in Vegas. The whole thing with Ms. Lyttle was because one of the other teachers noticed they were "unusually close."

This situation is sad on so many levels - for case and lyttle, for their families, for the school community. Some of the nasty posts are unbelievable but case and lyttle have no one to blame but themselves. When you work in the school system you are held to a higher moral standard and they both flunked that test. This will follow them forever whether it us true or not. Credibility is shot. They are both a laughing stock. What will FCPS do? Sad situation!

Action should be taken by FCPS ASAP as the longer the rumors circulate, the more harm to the respective spouses of the duo. This is a sad cautionary tale which illustrates that hubris can cause rising stars to crash and burn. It would be best for both to relaunch their careers as far from this area as possible,as a move to Gatehouse or another school would do nothing to reinvent their images.

As a community member as well, I find your post disappointing. We've all seen the passion and care that Case has brought to our school. West Po is so much a better place than it was previous to Case. From I believe Fox and USA, the videos(google them) but I think the networks would also have to get documentation from students (who are of age) saying that they are ok with their comments being publicized. However, its hard to believe that only those students were available to interview.

This sex thing at WPHS is just another issue about FCPS. If it were a teacher they would be fired. BUt not a Principal-they get put on Administrated Leave. Look at the asshole at Westfield HS-Harry Van Trees. He got caught at Oakton doing another teacher. His wife worked there. So they send him to Washington Irving and then when his buddy becomes Principal at Westfield he gets hired. He is morally corrupt. How about Linda Burke fair haired boy. His wife drove all his belongings to Annandale HS and dumped on front door step.But it is not only men. Look at Ellen Riley at McLean. She had affairs with 2 married men at Oakton and the principal tried to have her fired. Didn't work. Supposedly she sleep with someone at county or School Board and well she got the McLean job. So West Potomac gets another Principal! It has been a revolving door since Pail Douglas in 1985. Case gets to resign so he won't get fired. What about Lyttle? Who us going to take her seriously? Both are sneaks and liars and cheated the West Potomac students, staff and community by their actions. God help their spouses. thank you to whoever let the powers that be know what was going on. Worlds greatest high school led by the worlds greatest fake. Goodbye ABC.

Hi All. I was not a fan of either Lyttle or Case, but its totally not okay to post pictures of people's children. That is an innocent child. If there is a way to flag those posts...please do so all. That is not okay by any means. Children should not have to be casualties because of a parents actions. I normally would not post on this site, but that is going too far.

I do definitely troll this site to see and get an idea of what residents in ff county are thinking. I see a lot of racist posts which speaks to the racism in the county and within the schools. I see that there's at least one person willing to post a picture of a child in public forum and think that is ok. It's sick though.

As a WEPO OG who was there as a student on day 1, I'm most intrigued by which closet these two were shagging in. So many opportunities to be more discreet, especially on a campus with three separate buildings. Back in the day, we'd take a domino's pizza, 6pk of beer and a joint or two and sneak up into the lighting room above the the theatre in Springbank. Party like in ain't no thing for a couple periods and come out all lit up.

Actually the Fox article above says they spent $6500 on two trips. They were approved for a combined $5000 more for a trip they never got to take.

The travel nonsense is such speculation. I went to a conference a few months back and opened up the bottle of water in my room thinking it was complimentary; it wasn't. I had to write the County a check for $4.00 before I could be reimbursed for my other expenses. If they can't pay for a bottle of water, there's no way they're knowingly letting the costs listed above slide.

Why didn't you pay the hotel directly for the water? Did you not look at the hotel bill until you got home? Did you turn the claim in with that on there and somebody picked it up?
As for the term "knowingly letting the costs slide", they should not have had to be told by a citizen that something was really wrong with those claims. Somebody is supposed to be monitoring those claims and they were just plain blind or did not give a hoot about their job.

I have seen teachers fired for a lot less. FCPS has been losing teachers like mad. There is a thread about where did all the good FCPS teachers gone....they are all getting out because of crap like this and gatehouse will destroy them.Gatehouse is great at that.

Who is Dale Rumberger? Why is he the cleaner? Who has he let go? They have some many on staff that really do not do their job. Just walk in their to go to a meeting you will find kids in the hall all the time, kids outside roaming, go to the shopping centers durning the school day. They are loaded with kids. The main problem is the staff does not feel supported which lead to no one caring. It all started at the top. The staff that do care look worn out. The region office needs to talk to each employee to find out how they really feel and tell them what they feel is going on. The school has been run by college students. No dedication.

Alex Case mysteriously resigned from West Potomac in February, but he posted a resume on the internet saying that he left FCPS in May. It appears from the resume that he also got a management job at NOVA in May.
Does anyone have any information about this? How can he say that he was working for FCPS for 3 months after he resigned as principal of West Potomac? How can he get a management job at NOVA after resigning from being a principal in the middle of the year? Who hired him at NOVA?

We moved to Texas but my son was at West Potomac and all I can say is Alex case is the best principle I have never seen for someone to turn over a school around when it was a piece of shit he has done a an amazing job also he has so many positive writing all over the walls I felt so comfortable in there and he really cares about every single child if people are going to worry about what he did in a closet you need to get your head checked if it was with a child then I would have a problem i'm so glad that I left Virginia because I would not want another principle other than Mr. case that school is going to go down hill this is the saddest news I heard I sure do wish Mr Case The very best in his

Another one bites the dust. Alex Case was great to certain types of children, young white staffers. He’s gone now and now another one bites the dust. Karma is a bitch. All of those adults who engaged in bullying behaviors, well, keep doing what you were doing.
