And before the Sully station shooting, the last time they had been fired upon was in the early 90's. This marks the beginning of the inevitable ghetto-fication of Fairfax county. Yes there certainly is a case to be made that Fairfax County is turning into a stark divide of the "haves and have nots"... Once the middle class was driven out of Fairfax in the late 90s/early 00s, it paved the way for countless new apartment buildings for migrant poor immigrants, and overpriced condos and mansions for rich folks... The cop/nurse family of 4 or 5 who is the embodiment of the American middle class was no more in Fairfax County. Fairfax is really starting to resemble Los Angeles County (without the great weather or beach); example: large illegal immigrant population in overcrowded housing and rich people in mcmansions. Oh and lots of crime and gang problems...

In addition to "backing his troops", the police chief in Fairfax County has called for sweeping changes within the dept.
Fairfax County Police Department has always been one of the best police organizations in the U.S.
Their officers provide professional, dedicated service to the law abiding citizens of the county 24 hours a day.
Now the Chief wants to establish civilian review boards (comprised of, at least in part of non-experienced, tie dye wearing, granola eating liberals) and has said publicly that he wants to receive "more" complaints on officers which need investigations.
This is of course causing moral problems amongst the honorable men and woman working in the department.
Now I am not saying that officers should not be questioned or their actions investigated if out of the ordinary, however fighting criminals in order to keep the community safe for the good citizens is hard work and takes hardened men and woman to do the tough job and they should be allowed to do it.
A quote attributed to Orson Welles went something like this: "People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf!"
While I am not calling for an abusive police force, I am saying that the crime providing thugs should be concerned about being treated appropriately by law enforcement without law enforcement having to think through all of the legal/review board entanglements before taking action.

Once you get to 2X per year two years in a row you might have something. Otherwise, your assertion is absurd. In a county with over a million people these types of things are bound to happen every now and then. Plus if you read the article the jewelry store robbers were not even local – they were from Maryland.

Once you get to 2X per year two years in a row you might have something. Otherwise, your assertion is absurd. In a county with over a million people these types of things are bound to happen every now and then. Plus if you read the article the jewelry store robbers were not even local – they were from Maryland.

It doesn't matter where the criminals come from, rather where they commit their crimes. If you get two within a year period after having 10 years without one, it might be a sign that something is going on. Certainly a reason to pick your head up and take notice, as opposed to bury it in the sand.

Agreed. People need to realize that the majority of ffx crime problem is PG county, DC, and Alexandria residents coming here to cause problems. That is a cold hard fact.
