Why hasn't McDonald's ever offered a Big Mac with larger beef patties?

They used to put the Double Mac on the menu back in the 90's. Instead of 2 patties, it was 4. I also remember the Mega Mac being offered around that time frame, it used 1/4 pounder patties (like that mckinley one).

When the first Jurassic park movie came out McD's offered for s limited time Jurassic burgers, two 1/4 patties in the Big Mac & dble quarter pound burger.

The double burger (item#2) at Wendy's is infinitely superior to anything on the McDonalds menu. Of course, it also costs a lot more.

I was told that the original Big Mac used quarter meat patties (same used in the Quarter Pounder), but now for some reason they decided to use regular meat patties (used in the hamburger and cheeseburger).

I read they are going to start offering Big Mac sauce for sale in some restaurants. I think this is a great idea!...but I bet it never tastes as good as what you get in a restaurant!

The reason is that price point means everything to McDonald's. As beef prices and operational costs rose after the Big Mac's invention, they wanted to hold prices on the sandwhich. That was my point...not only were the buns one inch larger in diameter, so were the beef patties. Less sauce, smaller pickles and less lettuce.
You also see this at ballparks, arenas and stadiums. They'll make a big show of saying they've maintained the same price for a cup of beer year over year...but, what they don't tell you is they've shortened the pour from 12 ounces to 10 ounces.
Soft drink bottles used to be 20 ounces only. Now, you see 16.9 ounce bottles. 12 ounce cans...and now they offer 10 ounce cans.

Indeed...I was amused when they moved the double cheeseburger off the dollar menu and replaced it with the "McDouble", which is two patties and one slice of cheese instead of two of each. Not that I can stand either, but I figure in another couple of years it'll be the "McSingle", aka a cheeseburger!

Depending on location, some of the McDonald's franchises are only putting a half-a-slice of cheese on the Mcdouble and the Filet-O-Fish sandwiches, hoping you won't notice.
