Had it once. I was not impressed. It seemed undercooked and the cheese tasted soapy.

How about the worst pizza in Fairfax? Do we even have a Cici's (buddy calls it feces pizza). Pizza slut sucks too.

Best- I like pupatella, but that's in arlington.

Delia's used to be awesome until they got that new pizza oven a few years ago- maybe they got it dialed in again.

I don't disagree about Cici's -- but they stay in business. OTOH, there used to be a place near us that we'd go to about every five years, thinking "It can't be as bad as we remember", only to find that it was. It finally went down, but it took well over a decade.

I suppose all this really proves is that it's subjective: some folks like deep dish, some like thin crust, etc...

Cici's stays in business because it is only $4.99 for "All You Can Eat"

I have never eaten at a Cici's Pizza, but I did see a massive amount of red vomit on the sidewalk outside of the door of the Cici's strip mall location.

It was summertime in Alabama so there were many flies swarming the slick of chewed pizza.

They've cleaned the place up a bit in recent years -- a bit too much for my taste. Got a modern menu board instead of the old POS that had character. And wish they hadn't brought the Carvel ice cream operation there to ruin the ambiance. At least the Highlander Motel is still operating next door. Haha

For toppings, Mario's in Arlington (yeah, Joe and Lefty) give you some of the best and freshest. But for the dough/crust, sauce, and cheese, I'd have to say Ledo's.....they truly do an excellent job at Ledo's.

Among the big chains, Donato's probably does the best....but they have few locations in Northern Virginia. Papa John's likes to advertise and make a lot of claims, but I have found their pizza basically second-rate.

Actually, they moved out of the original location to a spot nearby but suppose it's the same food. The other places in the area are run by franchisees, so you're right that they aren't exactly the same as the original. I've not been over there in a long time so I can't say whether the toppings, specifically the pepperoni, are different there.

The moved into new space across the street from College Park City Hall and about 2 blocks from campus. Same staff and owners, same pizza. They also host a city happy hour every month. I wish Falls Church, McLean and Vienna would have monthly happy hours.

Ya know, I'd heard about that place being good; when the one opened in west county (Herndon) we were excited to try it. Seemed very mediocre. Anyone out there who tried *both* locations? Was Duke Street better? Or was it just not to our taste?

Ah, I see the Herndon one is now closed, too, per Yelp. Maybe that's a clue.

I never tried any of the Generous George locations (there was also one in Springfield where Eleni's is now) other than the one on Duke Street. I thought the regular pizza was decent, but I really liked the Georgie Combo. And the place really did have a fun atmosphere. I hope the new pizza place that Yates is building in that location will also have a distinctive and fun atmosphere.

The original GG was a pretty cool and unusual place for the time...before it had any other locations. Pizza was good...nothing earth shattering. In the 80's this area was a pizza wasteland for the most part. Armand's/Penalty Box in Old town was good. Nobody really delivered until Dominoes invaded...then many did.

The pizza at the GG in Herndon was initially close in makeup to the GG on Duke Street, but pretty quickly devolved into something unrecognizable in terms of its original roots. The last time I got a pizza from GG in Herndon (a couple of years ago), I brought it home, took two bites of one slice, and threw the rest away.

The pizza at the GG on Duke Street was pretty much NY style, with the crust being a bit oversized. As others have said, decent pizza, good atmosphere, but some parts of the building had an "off" odor. That may be why Yates basically demolished the existing building and it putting up a brand new one.

And kudos to the poster who mentioned the Penalty Box in Old Town Alexandria. The pizza was made downstairs at what was then an outlet of Armand's Chicago Pizzeria. One big and delicious difference between that Armand's and its other locations was the sausage topping--nice and spicy at the PB, not so much at other locations. The entire place is now called Bugsy's--an homage to then (not sure if current) owner Brian "Bugsy" Watson, a former Caps player. Have not been there in 20+ years, so I don't know whether the pizza there is any good anymore. (original name "Penalty Box" obviously being a hockey reference as well)

Interesting, thanks. I think it was actually pretty soon after they opened that we tried it, so maybe your taste and ours just differ. Or it was an off-night/preview of the future...

I actually didn't hate it, but I don't tend to hate any pizza (within reason!). Just weren't sure what the excitement was all about.

Sime of the greatest pizza I have ever had is in some nondescript place. Now, there are too many to choose from! Not a bad problem to have I guess but I always pass some small shop and wonder...do they actually have the greatest pizza in the world? Oh well, my cardiologist tells me pizza is for special occasions only...like Monday nights? Haha! j/k, I had roast chicken and green beans (that I pretended pizza for every bite!!!)

Not one vote in this thread for Dominos, Pizza Hut, or Little Caesars. The biggest chains around. How do they stay in business.

Marios in Arlington. I have brought many people there over the years and they all have become lifelong fans! They also have the best steak and cheese..... which beats any Philly cheesesteak any day

Pizza outlet in Burke next to Kohls. Little caesars is great for $5.30(tax included). Papa johns is good but $$$$$$. Dominos has gone to shot since those vids of the employees tampering w the food. Go to Burke Road papa johns to speak with the manager Sam about jay fasik the pet store killer. He was the manager at Fairfax.

Bryan Watson had a "5 star pizza" on backlick in Springfield for a moment in the 90's. Worked there and he was truly a great guy. Friends of mine got caught breaking into cars at the VRE station, and when I told him about it, he offered his help $$$$. He did this after i worked there less than 2 weeks. I went to old town years later and reminded him about what he did, and he partially remembered the story. I figured he did this many times in his life. Fast forward to a South African milf I met in DC IN Jan 2017. We were chatting and she told me how she worked for him in old town, and how he was such a great guy....etc. this lady was 55+ but on the skinny side with a great personality. I got really horny and I think she sensed it. I didn't close the deal. I hope he is doing well, health wise, and I wish I come across more people like him!

Joe Williams is STILL ALIVE????!!!????...and STILL serving up slices of "the grease"??????

I drove for Arlington Yellow Cab as a summer job in 1979 when I was back for the summer from graduate school. Joe Williams was a regular customer almost every Friday. He lived off Georgia Avenue somewhere near Missouri Avenue; I forget, now. It was a pretty good fare, but he never did tip.

He was the Manager, THEN. That was THIRTY EIGHT years back. He is STILL THERE? The guy must be close to eighty. God bless him that he still can and does work, but MY GOODNESS!!!

Scattered among the meth labs of the nearby WV panhandle is King's NY Pizza, purveyors of an incredible meat-stuffed pizza. Well worth the drive to try once. Several locations.

Cici's is in Chantilly, only pizza there that's 1/2 way decent is the deep dish, and 1 nice thing is u can ask them to make whatever pizza u want an they will. ANother Cici's in Lake Ridge

Best pizza:

- Ciro's Centerville
- Mama Lucia Fair City Mall
- Buon Appetito Chantilly & Dulles (2 locations)
- Santini's Oakton/Fairfax SPECIFICALLY: "The Carnivoro" that pie is awesome.

As for Tony's, only the downtown Mannasas location is worth going to.

I am fat. My wife is fat. My kids are fat. We know good pizza. I tried Buon Appetito in Chantilly. Brought home two large - one cheese and one sausage. We ended up throwing 10 slices in the garbage. Even my fat dog wouldn't eat it. If you seriously think this is good pizza, you are a moron of the highest level.

Sleepy holla, it's a buttery, thick crust that you get at an old school hole in the wall storefront shop...which are numerous in ct. Never had pizza like it anywhere. Pure heaven!!
