RESTON, VA — The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors has reportedly approved Commerce Metro Center, a massive, sprawling development along the Dulles Toll Road that would be directly adjacent to the Wiehle-Reston East Metro station.

The Washington Business Journal reported that Vornado Realty Trust, the developer behind the project, has received approval of a final development plan for 1.5 million square feet of residential, hotel, office and retail space.

Vornado Realty Trust plans to rezone about 12 acres of property on Sunrise Valley Drive and Wiehle Avenue next to the Dulles Toll Road. Vornado would keep three office buildings currently on the property and also build three additional buildings -- two of which would be more than 20 stories tall.

Check out the best holiday deals we've found today.
The largest would be a 24-story residential building, and the other building would be 22 stories and host office space. The last building would be a seven-story hotel.

The private sector is creating jobs. The free market will decide whether the new construction will be occupied and profitable.

After the cash-in, there will be screams for infrastructure.
Crazy plan for McLean, too.
How will traffic move - it doesn't now.
