So, how would Centreville, South Lakes, Lake Braddock, Robinson overcome their annual nemesis in Chantilly? Provide some compelling evidence that the USA Today article is wrong.

#68. At this point, can we just go ahead and pencil Westfield (Chantilly, Va.) and Oscar Smith (Chesapeake, Va.) into the 6A state title this season? Thank you for the link. #69 Brian Cobbs, some nice shine for him, if Henderson leaves Hayfield, I don't think Hayfield mkss the playoffs.

High School football can be and is truly an important part of some American communities. Being part of something bigger than yourself is part of being a mature adult.

I will be participating in our local booster club meeting tonight. BTW, some teams are not supported by a wealthy tax base, and our support helps high school sports to provide valuable tools for our youth who really need it. In my neighborhood , we help to demonstrate that hard work, team building, and perseverance can be powerful tools toward building successful lives, not just football.

I'm sorry if the Trolls on this site never experienced proper guidance in their lifes, but we'll pray that they find purpose and hapiness.

They would all over come their Nemesis by simply scoring more points than them WF will NOT have the Depth they had previous 2 Years..will Still go 3-1 against the 4 above mentioned Teams...SL is not even a consideration!

Ummmm, WF is as successful as they've been for two primary reason year in and year out. Coaching and depth, they run the same system, principles, schemes, & fundamentals as they have since they've been open. They also have the luxury of having 100 plus kids in their varsity/jv program which practices as one. Year in and year out it's the same, players change, but the results are pretty much the same. But every year at this time we see the same threads about how WF will not be as good or as deep as the year before.......

Centreville will give them a run for the title this year for sure. Westfield does not have the depth they used to have. This fall will be a down year for them. Bank on it.

Not enough niggers here for decent HS football. Follow the WCAC if you want something decent.

Count the numbers of niggers in each school--those with the highest nog population will be the best at football.

After all, what our African friends do best is run, jump, catch, sing and rap. Too bad it's about all they can do.

703 may have better run programs with facilities and coaches. But all you need to do is look at the numbers of 757 players vs 703 in d1 football and the NFL.

Bayern Munich clinched a record-breaking fifth straight Bundesliga title with a flourish, winning 6-0 at Wolfsburg.

Bayern were three up at the break, with David Alaba firing into the top corner to open the scoring in style after 19 minutes.

Star striker Robert Lewandowski then took over, making it 2-0 after 37 minutes with a fine finish from Thomas Muller's pass and adding a third in the final minute of the first half.

Arjen Robben made it four after 66 minutes, firing low into the corner from outside the area, and after the home side's Luiz Gustavo was sent off for a second yellow, Lewandowski set up Muller to make it five.

Joshua Kimmich added the sixth, putting the icing on the cake with five minutes remaining after Robben picked him out with a low cross.

Second-placed RB Leipzig had earlier been held to a 0-0 home draw by relegation-threatened Ingolstadt.

The hosts failed to break down a side sitting second bottom of the table -- even after the visitors had had Alfredo Morales sent off for a second booking in the 85th minute -- to give Bayern the chance to wrap up the title before the end of April.

The draw left Leipzig set for a second-placed finish in their first season in the top flight.

Darmstadt claimed a 3-0 win at home to Freiburg courtesy of goals from Felix Platte in the 22nd minute, Jerome Gondorf in the 45th and Sven Schipplock in the 65th.

The victory followed wins over Schalke and Hamburg, but Torsten Frings' men look to have left their recovery too late.

With three games left, they trail Augsburg in the relegation playoff spot by eight points. Augsburg will play their game in hand against Hamburg on Sunday.

Borussia Dortmund failed to take a firm grip on third place as they were held to a goalless home draw by Cologne. Hoffenheim, two points behind them in fourth, can take advantage with victory over Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday.

The point did guarantee a top-four finish for Dortmund, though.

Hertha Berlin's hopes of achieving that feat were all but ended by a 2-0 defeat at Werder Bremen, who are now just a point behind the capital club in sixth.

Bremen maintained their stunning recent form, which now features nine wins and two draws from their past 11 league games and has transformed them from relegation battlers to contenders for Europe.

Fin Bartels and Max Kruse scored in the opening 15 minutes to settle the match.

Elsewhere, Borussia Monchengladbach won 2-1 at Mainz. Lars Stindl and Nico Schulz put the visitors in control before a late consolation from Yoshinori Muto.

Well, all of the 6A North football teams are public high schools and with rare exceptions they are focused solely on winning within the VHSL district, region, and state championships. Normally, when you see teams playing private school powers or out-of-state nationally ranked teams - those are programs that are more focused on gaining national attention and rankings. You just wouldn't see much of that from 6A North public high schools.

Heck, the anti-sports/football detractors are upset enough that any VHSL sport exists in the public schools - if you would get into interstate play and national ranking attempts I can only imagine the outrage.

1 WHS will not have the huge advantage of mullet head bailing out the offense by dipping field position the way he did on his punts or making teams start at their own 20 on kickoffs as he sent his kicks into the end zone over 85% of the time.

2. They are young at skill positions and won't the benefit of having 2 6'4" receivers on the edges.

3. No Zach Jewell. He was a beast! Also O-line and D-line missing Petrillo and Free and host of others who garnered all-district blah blah accolades.

4. Losing DC in consecutive years and other support staff will catch up at some point, could this be the year. Continuity.....

CVHS will be better. Upgraded at skill positions and depth. They have huge linema Jackson? If healthy will be a force on the line. He's 6'8" 300lbs.

South County. Can anyone (not name Free) cover Spaulding

A late equaliser by Gylfi Sigurdsson denied Manchester United the chance to move up into third place and boosted Swansea's chances of escaping the drop in a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.

United had taken the lead on the stroke of half-time with a controversial penalty but Sigurdsson struck for a share of the spoils with 11 minutes remaining.

In addition to the frustration of dropping crucial points in the race for the top four, the home side suffered yet more injury problems as defenders Luke Shaw and Eric Bailly limped off.

Swansea produced the first effort of the afternoon when, with six minutes played, Kyle Naughton created the space for Ki Sung-Yeung to fire in an angled shot that cleared David De Gea's crossbar.

United's first injury blow arrived after only nine minutes when Shaw looked to have taken a knock to the ankle and made his way to the touchline before being replaced by Antonio Valencia.

Swansea continued to threaten against their reorganised opponents and Stephen Kingsley crossed low to force Bailly into defensive action.

And with 12 minutes gone, another Bailly clearance crashed off Sigurdsson and bounced narrowly wide of the post.

United were struggling, and with 15 minutes played Fernando Llorente got away from Bailly to force a good save from De Gea.

But a couple of minutes later they sprang into action and Antony Martial's pass found Jesse Lingard, who was denied by visiting goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski.

Wayne Rooney headed over as United continued to try to build momentum, and on the half-hour a strong Martial run and strike forced Fabianski into another smart stop.

But Swansea soon went back on the attack and Jordan Ayew again made De Gea work.

Ander Herrera crossed dangerously from the right as the first half drew to a close after Martial had set him free, but Swansea defenders were in the right place to clear.

But United broke through in contentious fashion in first-half injury time when Rashford went down under a Fabianski challenge and, despite angry Swansea protests, referee Neil Swarbrick pointed to the spot.

They should have doubled that lead moments into the second half when Herrera created a golden chance for Rooney, but his shot crashed against Martial and Swansea survived.

Sigurdsson, though, was always dangerous and produced another cross that gave Llorente a chance to head at goal, only for the effort to fly over.

And United soon had yet another injury problem to worry about when, after 57 minutes, Bailly went down following a challenge with Llorente.

Although he was able to continue for a few moments, he had to be replaced by Matteo Darmian minutes later.

Fabianski denied Martial soon after the hour when the striker fired in a shot that took an awkward deflection before the injury jinx hit Swansea as substitute Jefferson Montero, on for only a few moments, appeared to pull a hamstring and was replaced by Martin Olsson.

As time ticked into the final quarter of an hour, Valencia had an effort beaten away by Fabianski before Sigurdsson fired over after Leroy Fer had teed him up on the edge of the box.

But Sigurdsson made amends in spectacular style after 79 minutes when he curled a superb free kick up, over the wall and into the top corner after Rooney had fouled Olsson just outside the area.

Another Sigurdsson set piece should have brought a late, late Swansea winner -- but the unmarked Llorente, six yards out, failed to make contact and the chance was gone.

They won't have as good of a kicking game true, but they'll be okay on special teams. Callas is one hell of a special teams coach in regard to developing solid kicker/punters.

They lose players every year, every year players step in and they keep winning. They are losing some good players but they have quite a few walking around in the hallways which you'll find out about once they get an opportunity to play.

They'll have receivers, may not be as tall but a few might be faster than this years bunch. Cockrill is 6'3, nice big target, Morin and Kiley have speed and athletic ability, there's also a LB that played TE as a freshman, might be back to compliment Cockrill.

They garnered so many conference/region/state accolades last year because they won it all, that's how that system goes. Look back over the history of these selections, the teams that win have the most players.

They always have big lineman, this upcoming season will be no different than years past. As a previous poster noted, they'll have over 100 kids on jv/varsity program and plenty to chose from.

The luxury of the program has always been coaching and numbers. Yes they lose their DC for a second year in a row, but the system won't change. The program has been run pretty much the same for the 17 years it's been in existence.

Do I think that makes them an automatic lock to repeat as conference/region/state champions again, no. But they'll be one of if not the team to beat. Just look at the consistency of the program.

Maybe, but with the way the VHSL point system works now there's no benefit in playing any team other than a fellow VHSL counterpart. It's become such an issue that now that teams are reluctant to play outside their classifications.

If you're a 6A school playing a 5A there's a discrepancy in points you earn for a victory. I know the schedules are implemented by the VHSL but because of the format they adopted a few years ago you see the scheduling changing.

For instance gone this year will be the battle of the Bulldogs, Stone Bridge vs. Westfield, all opponents on Westfield's schedule are 6A teams. That's just the way it is.

Also, why would a public high school play a school that has the unfair advantage of recruiting? It makes no sense, teams like DeMatha, Good Counsel, and Gonzaga have the ability to bring kids in from everywhere. Give one school in Fairfax or Loudon County the ability to build an all-star team from all the local talent and then you'd have a comparable match-up.

Although Westfield graduates a lot of great players, there are a lot of reasons for optimism with this years team! For those of you who don't think Westfield can recover from these loses, just keep in mind that they lost even more players the previous year, included VA 6A Offensive Player of The Year AND Defensive Player of The Year. Let's start of with the offense, with Noah Kim at QB. Lots of hype surrounding the kid, but don't know how well he will do, however, he's as polished, naturally gifted, and as athletic as any QB that's ever stepped on the field for Westfield, once again, that doesn't guarantee that he'll be successful, but he has what it takes. At RB they should have Asante coming back and Daniel, a rising sophomore, who looked as good as any freshman in the area. At TE they should have Cockrill among others and Cirillo at FB. OL graduates a lot, but due to multiple injuries this year, a lot of the younger players received play time, and once again, they should be ginormous. WR is a special position, the only player that really got significant time that will be returning is Burns, but they should also have Pickett who was out the whole year as well as Woodley, a tall rising junior. Morin and Kiley are also athletics players who could see time at WR. Keep in mind that before last year nobody expected Frimpong and Eckert to be as good as they were. On the other side of the ball let's start with the D-Line. Contrary to popular belief I think that these guys will be a great group. Cockrill, Menard, Demoney, and Schweiger should be one of the better group of kids in the area. The LB position will be weaker with the departure of Petrillo but return players that received a lot of playtime in Clancy, McClain, and Shadkhoo. The secondary will bring back essentially everyone not named Joey Free and will be one year more experienced, the group of Steinhilber, DiVecchia, Morin, and Hinton is full of atheltism and speed, although they lack size. Special teams will take a step back but they were great even before Delaney came in and will do fine without him. They always seem to have 3-4 unexpected contributors every single year, and a transfer or 2. That plus a really large pool of kids to choose from automatically makes them a threat to win it all. Nothing is guaranteed but they have what it takes. And did I mention that they have THE best coaching staff in the region?

Vince Carter isn't planning to walk away from the NBA.

The guard-forward will be a free agent this summer and said after the Memphis Grizzlies were eliminated from the playoffs that he wants to play in the 2017-18 season, which would be the 20th of his career.

Carter, 40, said before this season that he hoped to play two more seasons and said he's holding firm to that goal.

"I said to myself 'I want to play 15 years.' I don't know where I got that from. And then I got to 15 years and I kept going. I never capped it, but at the same time I've had a lot of players remind me of things I've said. I'm still saying 'two more years and I'm done,'" he said, according to RealGM.com.

Hey guys,

Some guy from the O'Meara thread really was kind of twisting my arm to check out this HS football thread. I'm not sure why, as this thread sucks more than Jerry Sandusky in a shower room.

But then I always thought that football was a gay sport and the guys who are into it are fags too. But then again, Socrates was a homo - so color me confused. My, I'm more about the quim.

Anyway, keep on keeping on. Don't let the poo get you down!

For all you snowflake cry babies that think football means nothing, read below. The kids trying to get off the streets in South Norfolk, AKA Oscar Smith don't always make it. But with with neighborhood leaders that steer kids into sports, it can make ALL the difference in the world!

Sadly Smith looses an Alumn every other year or so related to some kind of violence... That's why we celebrate these kids as they learn tough life lessons that hopefully guide them AWAY from a bleak future for most other kids.

Smith has their own system but has to start with learning how to be a responsible and productive adult. Something that even your Nortern VA homes seem to be struggling to achieve based on what I've obseved on this sight!

So, what does Centreville bring into the 2017 to deal with the almighty Bulldogs of Westfield?

A much better passing game. Upgrade at QB and WR to take some slack off their running game which won't be as good as last year, but overall offense will be more balanced. Look for Haddock to surprise opponents with an aerial attack. They had some really big O & D linemen at JV last year that will be starters for varsity this year.

With Woodson HC leaving and taking his staff with him, will Woodson be able to make playoffs again this year?

Who are the potential candidates to replace him?

Predictions on Doc's success at LB? (Going back to hurry up spread)

It's Lake Braddock. They are going to be just fine.

So who is going to get the Woodson job?

And what have they won? You act like LB never has periods where they just sucked at football. This could be the beginning of one of those periods, dick!

Are you jealous because your rival thread (2017 HS Gootball) didn't catch on with everyone else? Or you just a perv fag? Either way just go back in the closet or back down in to your mom's basement or just go away. No one cares about you or the stupid pics. We're not little snowflakes that are scared off by your gayness.

LOL. Your anger is palpable. Why don't you post under your registered name OP? Why do you keep replying to your own posts to bump this shitty thread?

All year, I'll be here. Thanks for feeding my soul with your anger. Peace be with you.

^^ not angry at all and not offended by your posts. I do think you're a pathetic lonely fag that is crying for attention, what's the matter dad bailed on you when you were little? Can't say I blame him, judging by the way you turned out I would've done the same. You're not important enough for me to get angry over so don't flatter yourself. And I'm not the OP, don't see you posting under a registered name.

OK then. Why not do us a favor and start your own thread? We'll all jump on that one if you will leave the porn out. What the fuck does anyone care who started what thread?

McLean HS hires 08' alum as new HC. How long you give this 27 yr old? Any chance he can replicate what Madison Hs did (he was an asst there past couple of years)

How bad is that job that they had to give it to a kid who was special teams coach?

What role does the old HC at McLean have at WHS? Amazed WHS has picked up 2 former HC's this off season. Not only do players want to play there, coaches want to be there also.

I think the new HC cleaned out the player's "lockers" using the method below...

Annandale @ West Potomac (-21.0)
*West Potomac won 39-28 and did not cover the spread.

Edison (-10.0) @ Stuart
*Edison won 42-10.

Falls Church @ Hayfield (-6.0) *Upset pick and a game of the week
*Hayfield wins 28-26; called the upset and that this game would be one of the best this week, but Hayfield did not cover the spread.

Herndon @ Centreville (-45.0)
*Centreville won 56-20; but did not cover the spread.

Langley (-28.0) @ Madison
*Langley won 49-14 and covered the spread.

Lee @ Woodson (-6.5)
*Woodson won 28-7; they are putting together some good football the past few weeks and Coach just may be buying himself another year. As an outside observer they have gotten a little bit better each of the 3 years under Dishun.

McLean (-14.0) @ Jefferson
*McLean won 41-20.

Robinson @ Chantilly (-7.0) *Game of the Week
*Robinson won 29-28

South County @ Lake Braddock (-28.0)
*Patriot District Championship Game so it does deserve some hype for sure. I think South County will break Lake Braddock’s 21 scoreless quarter streak, but won’t score that much. My arguments for why Braddock is so heavily favored are posted above in some comments. This will be the best atmosphere of the week by far which is always a major consideration when picking a game to attend, but I think if you want a close football game with high playoff implications, Robinson @ Chantilly is the one to be at.

South Lakes (-31.0) @ Marshall
*South Lakes won 38-7; nailed this spread.

Stone Bridge (-28.0) @ Fairfax
*Stone Bridge won 33-28; Fairfax battled hard.

TC Williams (-28.0) @ West Springfield
*TC Williams won 14-10. They look so good some weeks, and then others you ask how the hell did they struggle so much against weak competition? TC Williams is a pretender this year.

Washington Lee (-20.0) @ Wakefield
Washington Lee won 56-21.

Westfield (-21.0) @ Oakton
Westfield won 35-7.

Yorktown (-24.0) @ Mount Vernon
Yorktown won 31-21.
