Installing remote starts systems in modern cars is a huge pain in the ass and you don't want some layman to take a stab at doing it. Most car radio install places have branched out into security system and remote start installs. Go with a place like Sonic Sound on Glebe Road in Arlington.

Most "normal" cars are equipped with remote starting with the keyless entry fob.

Did you buy the base Corolla with a manual transmission, crank windows, and no A/C?

Remote start can be installed on a car with a manual transmission. You just have to bypass the clutch/ignition interlock OR buy an older car without an interlock.

Either way, keep your parking brake properly maintained and don't forget to leave the shifter in neutral...

Though many new cars use keyless ignitions, the majority of cars do not. They have keyless entry, but keyed ignition locks. What wakes it more difficult is that cars from 1990-2016 have anti-theft circuitry that you need to work around. Not too tough if you know what you're doing.

As for installing it in a car with a manual transmission:
'Done that. It's sort of like running the output of a generator to your home wiring without using switchgear; as long as you remember to turn off the main before applying your own power, you're good. If you forget, you're screwed. Relying on humans to not make common mistakes is not good safety policy. Forget to apply the handbrake firmly enough, or have it out of adjustment/balky, or leave the transmission in first gear by mistake, and the car wil gallop forward when the remote starter is employed with the car in gear and your interlock disabled.

Typical smart-ass used car type comment. Do you have to go to a special Dick school to be that way, or does it come naturally? Did your Mommy not breast-feed you or what?

Most auto manufacturers have already installed this lardass feature. You just need to have the key programmed or purchase the key with a remote start feature.
Google can be your key for information.

How is it a lardass feature if when I'm up visiting my folks in Maine and I don't want to sit in a cold car waiting for it to warm up when it's -7? I can start it from the mud room and by the time I get my hat, coat, boots and gloves on and walk down to the street it has started to warm up and it's easier to clean off the snow and ice from the windows?

Jimmy was walking home after school, as usual.

It was late in May, and the sun was high, so Jimmy had plenty of time to go home the usual way. But he was thinking of the swing rope, and the clay wall. He was thinking of the crayfish. But first, he had to go home and drop off the backpack.

So, away, he ran through the cut-through. Now, this cut wasn't an alley. It was actually someone's yard, but it ran right against a creek.

Jimmy ran along the creek when he heard the dog.

Hold on, I gotta get my toast.

Impressive response. But why not have your parents visit you, lardbrain?

My Dad lost both of his legs in Vietnam. My Mom comes down now and then when my Dad's brother can come and stay with him...

ABSOLUTELY DON'T HAVE A PRO DO IT AND DONT INSTALL ANY ASIAN (IE CE CHINA) starter

they are well know to cause SERIOUS problems - i said serious

proffesional installers are exactly who will fuck it up - i have an eye witness on that

proffesional "engineer built and approved" electronic systems are crap - they lie about everything, you'll be getting crap no matter what you've heard in advertising

any local work in fx is crap - with a very few builders and satellite technicians aside

case and point: you couldn't shake a stick at the stack of cases in fx co courthouse concerning poor work done by "good companies"

your saying there is a handicap need

that i dont beleive - put it on the form and get busted if you ever get caught i hope you do get caught

-----------------------

so if a disabled person is involved then using a joe blow contractor is wrong. it has to be inspected differently

and personally - i've had to inspect and FIX for free handicap systems that were not well done but also practically falling off when it got to me. and there you go, that's fairfax for you, that's what you find - there is no place safe from atrocious work around here
