Thanksgiving Day dining options? What's open and good to eat?

Every year we've entertained the families of both my wife and myself. We've had enough and want to take a break. But what's good - and open on Thanksgiving Day?

We are willing to spend whatever for a great meal, especially since the meals tax measure failed. So we'll celebrate and be thankful for that, amongst our other blessings in life.

Willing to travel anywhere within 30-40 minutes of the area. Figure that's pretty far, given no traffic ;) So from DC to Manassas/Woodbridge, what's out there?

Otherwise, I've got to go to my inlaws... TIA.

They have a great Sunday brunch buffet w/ prime rib and oysters on the half shell.

Clydes is open as well.

about about still doing dinner at home and have it catered, We did a Christmas dinner like this at my MIL's in Mclean. Thinking Betruccis', amphora, deanand delucca... ect

that way you can still hang out at the house, have your drinks, watch football and be a family.

Most people who voted for Hillary will be dining on a festive feast of crow with all of the trimmings.

Found a nice looking (or sounding) Thanksgiving meal at Ocean City MD. at one of the hotels. It's a bit far to go, but if someone else was looking for a drive...

Anyways, j. Gilbert's might work, or may stick w/ Chinese.

Keep the ideas coming, as I am still undecided.

Amphora??? Is that before or after eating at the Vienna Inn? Both those places need to be condemned and torn down.

You should stick with Chinese food. Americans should not have to work on Thanksgiving and I do not support any business that is making Americans work on that day. Stick with Chinese or some Korean bbq. Sweet Ginger in Vienna is really good.

Chinese food is famous all over the world. Many people may be shocked by its variety of ingredients and surprising range. Chinese cuisine has countless fantastic and delicious dishes.
In China vegetarianism is popular with people who are very health-conscious. This food emphasizes appearance. The mainstays of cuisine, rice, noodles, tofu, and vegetables... Besides a variety of vegetables, Chinese food often uses tofu (dried bean curd or soft), mushrooms, fungi and nuts. I bought good Calphalon Knife for Chinese vegetarian food. Here is a good article with examples http://jonsguide.org/best-top-calphalon-knife-set-reviews/ Chinese food is displaying a harmonious balance of textures and colors as well as flavors.

I miss the old Charlie Chiang's at Worldgate in Herndon. They closed a few years back.

Anyways, they had an All You Can Eat Mongolian style deal there. Are there any others around which still have this? I could eat that on Thanksgiving.

Last few years I have split the turkey prior to cooking. Time in the oven goes down to an hour and change for a 14lb bird vs 4.5hrs
With a spatchcocked turkey and its slim profile, this is not a problem. You can blast it at 450°F and it'lll cook through in about 80 minutes without even burning the skin.

They used to have one in Centreville too. That one also closed like 4-5 years ago.

Second, McDonald’s. Most, but not all, are open. Also many kabob restaurants operate on Thanksgiving.
