Got an old fridge? If so you can get conversion kits for ~150. Check ebay, northerbrewer.com or any other homebrew shop online for kits.

Bars by Bud in Merrifield

I don't have a kegerator, but I'll second the Bars by Bud idea. I bought my bar stools and glassware from that place, and Bud actually came out to my old place to give us an estimate on a custom bar. It's an excellent store. It's a little bit pricey, but they are bar-supply experts. Bud seems kind of ornery, but he's really a nice down-to-business guy once you start talking to him. I totally support that locally-owned business.

The $300 is for the kit. You need to supply the refridgerator. You can usually get a used one for 35-40 bucks. Best investment I've ever made, and the store has some great items.

You can get the kits cheaper online, but you won't have any gas. The CO2 bottles have to be shipped empty.

Single tap for $90 to covert a fridge.

To get CO2, go to any welding shop, or look up Roberts Oxygen. A typical tank exchange will be ~15 bucks. To get your fist tank, without a shell to exchange will run you ~65 or so for the core charge and gas.

From experience, try to buy a kit without a CO2 tank if possible as Roberts does not fill tanks, they only exchange them. There is no point in getting a special chromed or polished aluminum one, as you will just hand it over to them and it will disappear forever.

Well that's one hell of a bump. You haven't found a kegerator in nine years?

I tried to buy a European bear but the wildlife people told me there were restrictions. I'm sorry, I says, I thought this was America?

how much beer does one have to drink to justify a kegerator? Seems like a huge red flag to me.

Ihave a two keg Kegorator.

the fridge holds two 1/6 kegs.

each 1/6 holds the equivalent of 41 pints.

I'm swapping out one keg every 1-2 months or so..thats about a beer a day on average.

But I don't drink a beer a day I do have freinds over who help, and if I have a party to go to, I'll fill up a couple growlers to take.

Having a Kegorator doesn't make you a drunk, it just means you enjoy beer. No differen than someone who has a dozen wine bottles laying around or a liquor cabinet full of booze...

Long time homebrewer here. I don't drink every day, maybe 3 pints in a week accept when I have a cook out the game is on I'll have more. I am not an alcoholic in anyway but I have a big ass kegerator with 5 taps ranging from light color to pitch dark black beer.

To the "kid" that is looking for a cheap one is to simply make one yourself. I did. Go on craigslist and looking for a cheap fridge, drill some holes on the front door, run beer faucets and lines through and you'll have yourself a kegerator. Costco is selling one that made for 1/2 barrell for $300, it will fits 2 corny kegs nicely.
