Hawaii Five-O, Mach 2

Hey, yall.

A new version of Hawaii Five-O is coming to TV? McGarrett's fictional son, Chris, will take his dad's place.

http://www.examiner.com/x-11396-Jacksonville-TV-Examiner~y2009m8d7-Mor e-remakes-in-the-works-Cops-and-cons-edition

I've heard a rumor that some of the filming for the debut will be taking place in DC. Heard anything about this?

Aloha.

Uh, dude. I aint gay. Hawaii Five-O is a MAN's show. You were probably peeing in your britches when the original show ended.

If anyone knows about the filming in DC or Northern Virginia (I've heard both rumors), please spill the beans. Hopefully, there will be tryouts for extras. I'll report back all the tidbits when I make it in.

Book 'em, Dano!

Hey, Mach 4, it's going to be the greatest! I got a sneak peak from friend somewhat "in the know", and this time around the chicks are going to be super hot for real. There will be the usual Hawaiins and cameos from past stars from the show (those still living). Also, they are adding a few friction factors. The team will include an alcoholic Korean cop who will be funny as shit. Plus, McGarrett, Jr. has to manage a crack lesbian duo on his force... they're passionate off the job...;) and tough as nails on the job. Hotness factor will be blue sky high, man! We haven't seen ANYTHING like that since Cagney and Lacy.

Comming in 2010!

Aloha, indeed!

Why are they filming Hawaii Five-O in DC? DC is the place that looks least like Hawaii, next to the USSR maybe.

I was hoping for Hawaii Five-O Light Speed where McGarretts son Chris is caught in a deadly game of cat and mouse with inter planetary drug smugglers.

Dude,
I know DC is a world different than Hawiai. The deal is this, man. I've heard that part of at least the pilot (and one or two other episodes) will be filmed in DC or Northern VA. The rest I presume will be Duh in Hawiaii. Although they may be able to get by with some shots at the Outer Banks. Some of the properties there has palm trees. Im thinking they may have a plot tie in with the FBI or CIA or something like that and why they is coming our way.

This is going to be so awesome. Babes with ultra hotness. Cool cops. Surfing action. I can not wait!!!!

Book em', Dano!!

Something else....Not only does this thread have a heavy "gayness" factor, but who really gives a shit? Anyone who was beating off during the original show (and were talking like 40 plus years ago) is presently taking daily shits in a diaper now. That's a pretty shaky fan base to recharge from, dontcha think?

Shit, we might as well bring back stellar shit like Betticock Junction and some more of that groovy Ironside.

I agree. It's the greatest cop show ever. I used to watch it all the time when it was in afternoon syndication back in the late 80's and early 90's.

I like the way it never really focused on character-studies or story arcs involving the main characters' personal lives. They were just an elite squad of detectives battling mysterious bad guys like international smugglers, foreign agents, and organized crime bosses. There was never any bullshit, just good vs. evil. It was great. Jack Lord was a badass.

Hey, Dingleberry. Yeah, you, Tinkerbell! Nobody worth noting is still alive from the original show. They're all DEAD! I guess a few of the native Hawaiian extras and a smattering of "special guest" stars. Sounds like a pretty flimsy sequel to the original show. It's going to be Murder She Wrote in a fricking nursing home. Heavy action at bath time. And it's going to suck lemons. And you know it. This is like bringing back whoever is left from the Gilligan's Island gang: MaryAnn and the 70 year old goddess, Ginger.

How are they going to connect this with the original? Flashbacks? Good luck, they're all dead. But I know what your thinking. Fantasize this. Maybe they have loads of leftover film from the original show. They can seemlessly splice together cut and paste conversations (ala Dragnet) with modern actors. And wait. They can get Rich LIttle to do some voice overs if he's still alive. McGarret, Sr. lives in a cave and only communicates by phone like the guy in Charlie's Angels. Wow. What a winner. I can't wait to see it fail.

Please drip your "excitement" somewhere else.

I think it is a disaster-in-the-making, I hate when Hollywood remakes old TV shows, and I'd never watch this new movie they are making. I hope it does FAIL.

I was just giving props to the original. There won't be anything like that ever again.

I'm in full agreement with you, Meeper, and my comments weren't directed at you. I was referring to the lonely guy who started this thread. Actually, if properly done, I might like a movie update to kind of patch up what happened to all the characters from the past, a kind of nostalgic passing of the torch. As I mentioned, the problem is primarily the loss of all the biggies from the original show. McGarrett. Chin Ho. etc. I'm not sure if Dano is still alive.

I like the premise of tough by-the-book cops working in Hawaii. That's it. They wouldn't have to tie it to 5-O. Kind of just put the Shield on the beach except the cops are straight-laced as well as tough as hell. It will be very hard to tag the cool factor to a new McGarrett. Way too tough. Probably why this was never tried earlier.

I agree 100%.... My friends and I use to ditch school and go watch them filming sometimes.

Hawaii Five-O, Mach 2 will suck like the new Bionic Woman and Love Boat, The Next Generation did. Producers who don't have enough imagination to come up with a new concept won't have enough imagination to make an old concept new again.

(And before you say "Battlestar Galactica," I will point out that the original show sucked and was a flop, so the producers overcame a bar that was set pretty damn low to begin with).

Love Boat-The Next Wave?
Oh dear, Robert Urich as the captain. He is the kiss of death to any show. The rest of the cast are has-beens and never-was's.

Even the opening theme is laughable

The Love Boat promo is like a super bad parody from SNL circa 1985. The song is 80s with some shitty doowap. And WTF! I thought Robert Urine was DEAD. Really cool how he takes the hat on and off. Incredible filming. God, this is bad. Really, really bad. I bet there's plenty of miscued laugh tracks on this one (Laugh, dammit....this is funny....laugh at this shit, fuckers).

By the way, Im all for Hawaii 5-O try outs in DC or whatever. Let us know where and when. I'm definitely in on that super shit.

Love Boat, The Next Wave was from about 10 years ago. I believe the show was in syndication and was an attempt to infuse Love Boat with a "Bay Watch" vibe. I don't believe it made it a full season.

Here is Robert Urich from better days....

The New Bionic Woman and Love Boat were both shows sold into the syndication market, and both never got 90% clearance. On the other hand, CBS has just ordered a pilot for a new Hawaii Five-O. Word is Peter Lenkov, an executive producer on CBS' CSI: NY, will pen the pilot script.

The New Bionic Woman was on NBC. The New Dragnet was on ABC. Neither worked.

Maybe Hawaii Five-0, II will succeed. However, the track record for this kind of thing isn't great.

That is correct; I forgot that it aired probably a handful of episoed on NBC. After the writers strike, and NBC not renewing it, they tried to sell it via syndication as well as to TBS, but they never got a high enough clearance. So it died.

They tried this formula for the new Knight Rider as well. Air it on NBC for a couple of months, then sell it in syndication or to cable station. That didnot work either.

Bring back the Night Stalker, now that was a show!
