Hit and Run on Braddock Rd
Posted by: Tam1970 ()

On Thursday Sept 22, 2016 around 110pm I was the victim of a hit and run. It happened at the intersection of Braddock Rd and Port Royal Rd. The car is black- possible Honda or Toyota - 4 door with the first three letters of the VA tag being VNJ. He will have extensive damage to the rear of his car. If you see him please let me know by responding or the FCPD at 703-644-7377 with the remainder of his tag or where they can locate him. Thank you in advance!

How did this person manage to hit you with the rear end of their car on Braddock Road? Were they in front of you and...ummmm...failed to move out of your way - Wham!

Trying to picture this accident.

OP probably slammed on the brakes at a yellow light instead of clearing the intersection and the car behind her was following too closely and hit her.

Technically, she CAN stop at a yellow but I got yelled at once for a cop who almost hit *me* because I stopped for the yellow! He said I should have kept going!

The fact the person ran tells me this person was either a) driving on a suspended/restricted/no license b) drunk/high and scared the cops were going to come or c) an illegal of some sort.

If Op slammed on the brakes then the car would have rear ended the Op. Op's car would have had a damaged rear end and the other car would have had a damaged FRONT end.

Op says that the other car had a damaged REAR end. Thus the confusion as to how this accident happened...

maybe the car backed up into OP. Is OP a pedestrian or a driver or a bicyclist?

Why would this driver have been backing up or driving backwards on Braddock Road?

OP is unresponsive so we'll stop looking for the driver. Case closed.

To answer all questions: The car was a Honda....I was making a left hand turn FROM Braddock Rd on to Port Royal Rd. He was coming out of the Shell station on the corner. He was sitting diagonally across the two lanes that we from Braddock Rd would turn into. When he saw us coming he moved forward by then he was in oncoming traffic. As each car drove by he sat there but as I went by he hit me in the side of my vehicle. Sorry if I don't answer right away as Im not able to.

If he was "sitting there" then you hit him.

Best to just let your insurance cover it. You are not going to win this one.
