WTOP.com click bait ads crash their site, make it look tabloid

The number and type of click bait ads that appear on WTOP.com has gone into overdrive. Not only do they look as trashy as the reporting on that site, they also cause unwanted fake popup screens warning of all kinds of threats to your phone.

I assume a lot of posters there also post on FFXU. Matching the writing styles and matters discussed is fun.

Nope. Not always. They use web sockets, IPv6, and a variety of other ways to get around most all of those. In fact they detect whether you're using a standard ad blocker and use that to trigger alternate ways of displaying. They may work for a while but as soon as they alter the code they'll be back. You have to use uBlock and similar and script blocking and continually update which can cause other issues and is a pain in the ass and that changes depending on platform.

I hate those fucking things. The should be banned from the Interwebs and the people behind them physically beaten. Any site using them should be permanently DDOS'ed into oblivion.

Remember when Yahoo was the go to site for news and updates? Now it is nothing but the most ultimate click bait site known to man. WTOP is heading down that road.

I have been using Adblock Plus for years and I have not seen an ad since I started using it. Nor have I been denied access to any site because I use it.
