Breaking News: Reston Town Center Paid Parking Cancelled!

RESTON, VA — Boston Properties' move to end paid parking at Reston Town Center won't happen in 2016 after all. The developer has opted to bump the rollout to January 2017 in the midst of public backlash against the move.

"Reston Town Center today announced its plans to delay the activation of its paid parking initiative until January 2017," reads a Sept. 7 statement from Fallston Group, which represents Boston Properties. "Reston Town Center had been scheduled to fully activate both ParkRTC and LiveSafe, two integrated digital parking and mobile safety technology apps, next Monday, September 12th. However, after continuing to meet with tenants, listen to customer concerns and comprehensively assess the roll-out timing, Reston Town Center decided to postpone paid parking activation until January 2017."

Huh? How do you end paid parking when it has been free all along? Major typo in this article. The first two sentences make it sound like parking was paid, and is changing to free parking in January.

There...fixed the subject line for you, OP...

If only citizens of NOVA who go to RTC would realize that nothing sold there is unique and can't be found elsewhere or online. Then it could be US sticking it to THEM starting on January first...

If enough people boycott RTC, they will either close or remove the parking fees permanently. Customers do merchants a favor by choosing to shop there and supporting the business. RTC is not doing the public a service by existing...and certainly not by charging for parking.

The best shopping in DC is at Tysons...just 11 minutes away from RTC and free parking.

11 minutes? maybe at 2am on a summer night.

took me 45 minutes to get from Marshall Highschool to Wolf trap the last three nights in a row. reston would have been over an hour.

nice thing about RTC no metro which means...no nogs....

can't say the same about tysons...
