Will FCPS turn to Boosterthon if Meals Tax Fails?

We need the money and countless schools have shown that Boosterthon raises more money faster and with less distraction than any other method. Should FCPS consider making Boosterthon mandatory on a county wide basis if Rethugricans vote down the meals tax in November?

The new regs put restrictions on the use of class time for fundraising. Also, Boosterthon is not a good choice for high schools-you know, those places with the expensive turf fields.

It is also going to take a LOT of laps to pay for a $10,000 Flip Flippen commencement speech!

Any updates on this? A staggering drunk might appeal to certain soccer moms, but that type of thing has no place in the schools.

You mean someone who has cleaned up his act, become productive, and wants to share his wisdom with other?

You're right, nothing to do with school, especially if you're a DEM.

Given the size of the potential contract, it would require a sole source justification, and it would take more than the statement "countless schools have shown" to make that stick. There would be a lot of competition for a countywide fundraising contract, and a sole source award to Boosterthon would almost certainly be protested-something that would cost FCPS a fair amount in legal fees.
