brilliant school board meals tax

The Fairfax school board is brilliant. Instead of fighting with the teachers about giving them a pay increase, when they gave one to management and stiffed the rank and file, they tied teacher raises to a new tax on residents. This in effect took the pressure off of the boards mismanagement and poor decisions, and pitted the teachers against the voters. I have read with interest here on ffu and in other forums just how effective this ploy has been. The residents are resisting this new tax. The teachers are asking for a raise by supporting the tax. Presto. Teachers and parents fighting each other and the board sitting back enjoying the frey while avoiding their own responsibility to manage the pittance of the 2.7 billion dollars that the greedy Fairfax citizens have given them to use. And yes, that's just for one year. No new tax. Give the teachers the raise they deserve. One is not dependent on the other. I wont play your Machiavellian games. No new tax.

1) Passage of the meals tax DOES NOT GUARANTEE that property taxes will go down.
2) Passage of the meals tax DOES NOT GuARANTEE that property taxes will not be raised.
3) Passage of the meals tax DOES NOT GuARANTEE that teachers will get raises.
4) Passage of the meals tax DOES NOT GuARANTEE smaller class sizes.
5) Passage of the meals tax DOES NOT GuARANTEE higher test scores.
All passage of the meals tax guarantees is that you will have less disposable income.
