They're too busy teaching the children about feelings, homosexuality, and the evils of the white male to be concerned with such archaic disciplines as penmanship, punctuation, or grammar.

No,

My 19 year old learned it (barely), my 17 year old was briefly exposed to it, but can only sign his name. Not sure he can read it so well.

Kind of too bad.

If they just left the cursive border at on top of the blackboard in the front of all the elementary schools, while the kids are bored in class they would at least commit most of the cursive to memory.

Cursive is still supposed to be taught in third grade at FCPS. I still teach it in my class. The problem is that after third grade students never use it again.

No. They don't teach correct formation of letters in cursive. Kids cannot print small letters either. Kids cannot read cursive from a greeting card.

You must be a lib. People like you that don't teach their own children are the problem. Public schools are a joke. You failed your kids. You're a worthless parent.

Kids are illiterate. They can't form letters in their native language. But they have t shirts, turf fields, 13 days off for snow, winter break, spring break, 2 weeks of goof off time in May after testing is over, you would think they could could fit in penmanship practice on one of those days. Yeah, I think I should pay more taxes when I buy dinner after working on one of those days.

We made our kid learn how to do cursive at home. Dad thought it might be helpful in taking notes in college quickly, especially since our son is taking math and science classes -- not necessarily something that you can input into a computer (graphs, equations, etc.) easily. Its paying off his notes are neat and complete.

That being said kids don't have any fine motor skills anymore. I've had five and six year olds who can't even use scissors and grip their pencils in their fist.

I guess that stuff isn't needed as long as you can play video games to strengthen those muscles.

Yes, but have we resolved the fact that motherfucker is a variation of fuck? So is it 6 or 7? Cursive education needs to progress. Questions go unanswered.

"Dozens of people have called me to tell me that FCPS is really really sucky. I don't know, but that is what people are telling me."
