Bullying by football players and student government members, the chosen, privileged few of FCPS.

If your kid fits in the Bell Curve, you'll be ok.

If he gets in any trouble or needs ED help, you are fucked...

If history is any guide, expect suicide.

If you don't own a gun, he'll use a train.

Across the road for attention, down the street for results. Either way he's going to commit sudoku if he's an sjw.

Attention New Families!

Are you new to the Woodson Pyramid? New to the Woodson community… or are you matriculating to high school from Frost MS? Regardless of your situation, this orientation has something for everyone!

On August 30, 2016, new students AND PARENTS grades 9-12 are welcome to come to WTW for orientation from 12:30 – 2PM, starting in the auditorium. Students and parents will begin together then break up into groups for specific information. Students will get their schedules and find their classes as well as individually ask questions of returning students and staff.

Meanwhile, parents new to the Woodson community/pyramid are invited to the PARENT NEWCOMER HOUR 1pm to 2 pm in the cafeteria. New parents will meet with returning parents to get to know one another as well as ask questions and learn information about the school, PTSO (Parent, Teacher, Student Organization) and other activities.

Parents who have students coming from Frost will be briefed in the Auditorium and provided with information about Woodson, the PTSO and high school activities. Please come and take advantage of the wealth of Woodson community experience available!

Cav Kickoff begins at 2, please stick around to buy PE uniforms, bring your calculator to get it etched with your name, buy food, get a free Fairfax Connector/CUE bus pass, and learn about various clubs and activities.

Parents can’t make it? Still send your student! Buses will be provided to shuttle rising freshmen and new students to and from W. T. Woodson. Students will be picked up at the following elementary schools:

First, if your kid's going to WTW HS,

Check out Parent-Teacher organization

http://www.woodsonptso.org/ get involved &

register http://www.woodsonptso.org/join-ptso.html

get kid involved if kid's has time willing & able: http://www.volunteerfairfax.org/individuals/just-for-youth.php

Not sure where you're coming from but Woodson HS is a top school nationally. Other than Thomas Jefferson HS (top 1% students targeted & selected in region & worldwide to matriculate at TJ), Woodson H-school is as great as it gets in this region with a couple of other HS comparable.

Their Spec Ed, ED, LD, G&T, AP, Autism Spectrum, etc., Dept attracts students from the tri-state area, and all the counties in NoVa. Still, you have to impart your own values & virtues to your kid, and not abdicate that to WTW and its social culture.

Good Luck

Too many Mantua nut-jobs in the PTO - discovered that at Frost. They are complete douchebags as a general rule.

If your kid is very high achieving, special needs, unable to speak English, or an uncontrollable discipline problem, he/she will be fine. If you have a middle-of-the-road kind of good kid, or a bright but unmotivated kid, he/she is screwed and you can expect to be ignored. After all, this is the school pyramid wherein a middle school GT teacher --in front of a class--referred to the non-honors/grade level kids as "wall lickers."

Good luck!

First off, don't ever ask this bunch a question like that. If you think this is some patch or nextdoor.com site, then you are very mistaken. Go elsewhere for this kind of advice.

But to answer your question, Woodson is a very good school. Like all schools in this area, it's big, but ranks well in high schools in a county that ranks well in education. So long as your kid has half the social skills of a normal teen, they will adjust just fine.

Maybe I can handle a little adult joking/trolling. There is some good info on this site. Lots of offensive stuff but I consider the source. People using N!gg3r and stuff like that are just ignorant trolls - ignore them.

You on the other hand seem like a stuck-up douchebag with nothing to offer. You give obvious and generic information that any parent would know. So please do not instruct me as to which questions to ask and where to ask them.

Woodson orientation was a zoo today - who laid out that school? Its sprawling and poorly organized. The Principal seemed cool and the career lady seemed interesting. Massive school though. Factory education?

I sub at Woodson, Lake Braddock, Robinson, West Springfield, and Fairfax. All great schools. My children graduated from Lake Braddock. You can get them into the best schools, it comes down to the student. Good Luck. Go to the football games. Fun! Fun! Fun!
