I'm one of the local 'whistleblowers' and did complain to the police. I like the informational posts on this website and don't want the site to be shut down. However, I've seen a lot of harassment and threats here that seem not being moderated. I have a real problem with threats being posted on a public forum so I blew the wistle. I was told by police that the site is in fact being watched very closely and there have been complaints filed before. I also believe there are law suits pending. Again, nothing against the site but the harrasment has to stop and it will. I like what one of the posters said: "...posting threats on a public forum is dumber than shouting them from the middle of a parking lot... at least in that case you can run away and have the chance to avoid identification." So true!

The vast majority of the regulars on this site have a wry, perhaps macabre sense of humor. We may be a little rough around the edges and certainly are the first to point out flaws in arguments (or stupidity), but we're also not going to going crying to Cary (or the cops) for a mere insult or a meaningless threat. Like or not, we set the tone for this site.
It isn't like this site is the only place to find information on Fairfax County. If you want heavy moderation, go somewhere else.

Honestly, whoever "blew the whistle" needs to take a step back and look at themselves in the mirror and ask themselves, "Where did I go wrong in life that I have the time and patience to report cyber-threats and vulgar behavior to law enforcement departments? What actions and decisions led to my facination and obsession with bringing cyber-justice to a site that I CHOOSE to be a part of, eventhough most of the sites content bothers me?"

How many "real-life" friends do you have?
Why do you come to this site if it bothers you?

Since this isn't facebook or myspace where people use their real names, I find it hard to believe anyone, no matter how afraid of the evils of the world they are, would actually take offense to a bunch of anonymous people making fun of each other and occassionaly "threatening" someone they don't even know and have practically no way of knowing.
I'm sure the police are investigating this site. This is such a hotbed of illegal activity. Just the other day, I was able to buy lSD, PCP and crack cocaine, along with the marijuana and the ecstasy directly through this site. A few weeks ago, I successfully arranged a professional hit on my ex wife and was also able to use this site to scam her life insurance money afterward. I've also used this site to run a ponzi scheme and also to further my fraudulent housing title transfer scheme.
Let's be realistic. The cops are not about to waste their time worrying about someone whining about "these guys named MrTonePhisto and WashingtonMeepLoc and GravisDude and Harry Moore and Thurston Tuttle told me I should go and jump off a cliff and that I am a paranoid insane woman".
If the cops told you what you claim they told you, they were simply paying you lip service in order to keep you from going bat shit crazy on them and causing a scene in the police station.
