I am never buying my child a FCPS school lunch again!
Posted by: Oakton Mom ()

If they are going to lie to me in this way, I am telling Karen Garza that I am NEVER ever buying my child ONE MORE FCPS SCHOOL LUNCH!

Apparently, they are openly lying to parents about cost of school lunch versus lunch from home and the "health benefits" of school lunch.

How dare you believe that you know what is best for your child! Michelle Obama and her devoted disciples on the School Board know what is best and for your child and they will be making the decisions for you in the future.

Wow...you're just figuring this out now, OP? Hell, I went to kindergarten in FCPS in 1977. After hearing about my lunch after the 1st day of school, Mom Bruin insisted I brown bag for the next 12 years.

The aggravating thing to me is that they are poking their noses into kids' homemade lunches in order to make these comparisons.

It is fine to tout the nutritious wonders of the school lunches. But I don't want to hear how much better the cafeteria food is than the lunches we pack at home.

"First of all, the elitists at FCPS apparently believe that a nutritionist degree is necessary to plan a child's school lunch. That claim is absolutely ridiculous."

jeez, hire a professional trained in nutrition to plan meals - what a crime. Maybe we should have hired Aunt Bee to chief up some bologna and mayo on white bread for the kids.

The anti-intellectuals sure love a conspiracy theory about how smart people are out to get them...

On November 22, 1989, Frances Elizabeth Bavier (Aunt Bee) was admitted to Chatham Hospital. She suffered from both heart disease and cancer and was kept in the coronary care unit for two weeks. She was discharged on December 4, 1989, and died at her home two days later on December 6 of a heart attack, at age 86, 8 days before her 87th birthday. Upon her death, whoever went in the non-curtained house found it reeking of cats. The plaster was peeling, the carpets frayed, and the upholstery worn. She had 14 cats, and their litter box was the basement shower.

My kids pick out their own oscar meyer lunchables at Giant every weekend. They get lunchable and a can of RC cola for lunch every single day. That is good enough for any kid.

"Compared to children with a school lunch, children with a lunch brought from home were significantly less likely to have fruits (75.9% vs. 45.3%), vegetables (29.1% vs. 13.2%), and dairy (70.0% vs. 41.8%) (p < 0.001). Children with a lunch from home were more likely to have snacks high in sugar and/or fat (17.5% vs. 60.0%) and non 100% fruit juice/fruit drink (0.3% vs. 47.2%) (p < 0.001) than children with a school lunch."

Elitist troll, as I explained...

"FCPS misrepresents reality by claiming that the statistics gathered in a study (which may not even exist -- FCPS did not provide a citation) allow them to give individual parents advice to buy a school lunch. Statistics refer to a general population, not to specific individuals. Even if the claim that lunches from home are, ON AVERAGE, less nutritious, is true, it does not follow that the solution is to buy a school lunch. There could be other solutions that parents could implement."

LOL! Go fuck yourself, you worthless dumbshit. The plain and simple facts are that school lunches are apt to be markedly healthier than what brown-bag students end up eating. The study that -- like some worthless asshat fucktard -- you suggested might not even exist, was linked to above. It not only exists and is from a highly reputable source, but its results offer clear confirmation of the fact that you and your stooge-fuck group of collected uneducated pinheads are nothing but worthless pieces of shit. Some 15 years ago I was a lunch volunteer at an FCPS elementary school. Four things I took away from that experience.

Some children eat lunch at 10 am for scheduling reasons.

The parents of kids who receive free lunches drive nicer cars than me.

The children are required to purchase an entire meal, whether they want it or not. Half of that goes in the trash.

The parent volunteers started a trading table where the children who did not want parts of their lunch could leave items and others could take them. Milk and fruit were popular leftovers, but also occasional desserts. After the last lunch lunch we would take some of the leftovers down to the teacher's lounge and put them in the refrigerator for them. One day, someone from the main office came to us and said what we were doing was against Federal Law. That was the end of the trading table.

I love these stories. I believe every single one. I liked the trading table. And I can see why it is a violation of Federal Law. You can't take government subsidized lunches and give them to the teachers, for sure. It is a shame to throw it all out. What they were doing makes a lot of sense. But, no can do.

I hate to throw stuff out.....

I'll let FCPS profit from my lazyness, so that they can spend my money on more administrative position while kids languish in old trailers.

Unintelligible, unintelligent...it's all par for the course among nitwits. Actual studies by reputable and reliable investigators have shown that school lunches tend to be be more healthful (by rather a lot) than brown-bag lunches brought from home. Stupid-ass claims that FCPS is lying to parents by citing such studies are examples of just how pathetically ignorant right-wing dummies really can be.

The money will be used for more breakfast, lunch and dinner meetings by FCPS administrators and the school board.

Just forget about anything being done for the kids. For that, they will pressure the Board of Supervisors.

Why would you have done so in the first place? School lunches everywhere, especially in Fairfax, are so loaded down with simple sugars and cheap carbs that are meant to keep kids so docile and submissive, that they'll accept every part of the gay and globalist agendas being forced down their throats every single day of their lives.

It's a difficult thing realizing that people as assfuck stupid as you are allowed to walk around loose. FCPS Food and Nutrition Services employs more tha 1,300 people. Meals are planned by registered dietitians to reflect the current Dietary Guidelines for Americans. Student preferences are determined at student tasting parties. Menus that don't pass muster are rejected, FCPS serves affordable, tasy, nutritious meals to more than 140,000 customers every day. You can go eat shit now, asshole.

No. No you may not assume that. I earned my amnesty a year early the old-fashioned way...

I took summer school, AP classes and classes at GMU. After finishing 11th grade, I was informed I had acquired the necessary credits for graduation and I was and I quote..."free to go".

Nail on the head right here. And to the people that believe that school lunches are better for the kids then what they can pack in look at it like this. If the food the schools are serving is not palatable then the nutritional value doesn't mean squat. IF the kids don't / won't eat it why waste the money. Besides mom and dad just give them bologna and cheese sandwiches as 90% of the little thugs will end up in jail anyway you will just be preparing them for their futures.

I can tell you, the school lunches are not healthy what-so-ever. Most kids order in the pizza line (Yes, we have lunch lines that just serve pizza) and the ones that don't order in the pizza line order a bunch of fried and LDL ridden food in the regular lines... everything is so over-salted,a lot of processed foods. Also, almost everyone that buys a lunch is forced to buy a side vegetables but never really eats them and they go right into the trash. I would always pick a pack lunch over the fcps garbage --- also, I've noticed that a lot of the food that is served is expired..
