ADAPT Program

Fairfax County has a mandatory program for dv ofenders called ADAPT. Is anyone involved in it/been involved in it? What are your thoughts comments on it and what do you think?

Used to teach it on a volunteer basis. The first session or two is a bit odd, but overall the program is quite good. 1/3 of the people who go through it make significant progress and learn not to offend again. 1/3 make some progress but still need help and might offend again. And 1/3 go to the classes, learn nothing, and end up offending again.

A word to the wise if you're a court order: Attend every session, come sober, do your homework, and don't fool around in class. At the end of it a report is written to the judge by the guy leading the class about how you did. You do NOT want that report to be negative.
