My A-C is broke who to call in Chantilly?

Probably no way I am getting a repair guy today. I called a couple companies and they dont answer. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I was at Lowes in Manassas this morning and they still had some small window units in stock, you better go grab at least two. No way in hell you get A-C service today except for a rip-off company. It is a good idea to have a couple on hand for emergency anyway.

Costco has pallets full of window units. If you want to grab a couple of units for backup, that's the place to do it. 12,000 btu's I think for less than $170 each.

Mannix HC located near the Chantilly area might be worth a try. Great company that recently did new install for a family member and friend. May be difficult to get them in today/coming days with lots of service calls. Good luck.

Whenever I need service in my home, I always go with the companies who have the highest radio and TV advertising presence. Firms that can afford a full multimedia campaign didn't get there by anything else but providing good service. And where A/C techs in Northern VA are concerned, there's Cropp-Metcalfe and then everybody else. Cropp-Metcalfe...not the cheapest, just the best.

turn it off. change the air filter and the capacitor on the blower (get the more expensive one for the HP and type, dont get the cheapest, short the capacitors before touching them)

I got 3 window air conditioning units humming away in my townhouse now and I have never been more comfortable. By the time the homeowners association gets around to the 3rd violation notice summer will be over! I will get the A-C checked next spring.

Just went thru this and had to have whole system replaced. It wasn't that hot yet so had time to call and later interview a few places. Expect to pay thousands. House is about 2100 sq ft and had to replace 18 year old system that just quit.
Anyway ARS gave us lowest estimate, Costco does only Furr and their estimate was the highest with way too many add ons and incomplete explanation of prices just lots of lumped together figures.
We went with Snell and they were great. Decided not to go with cheapest, but go local and get their service contract and warranty program.

however foreigners all "sided against usa and dumped incompatible fittings in USA market with NY,NY's help". theirs leaks allot too. you can't buy USA because it's not in NY,NY stores - an all the products require asian plumbing fittings - attacking the whole USA plumbing industry.
is that a bad rip-off. rip off is not just about the price on the shelf.

It's hard to say what company is the best in repairing your A-C because I never had met with such a problem and I understand that it's hard for you to stay without cold air or air filter in the house. FOr example, if you can't support the polluted air in your house you can buy a small ozone generator which will help you easily to purify the air in your room.
