The next FCPS debacle: turf field cancer

While it is true that booster clubs helped pay for the turf fields, it is unlikely in the extreme that they will help with the bills associated with turf field cancer. A very likely outcome is lawsuits against FCPS and the replacement of turf fields with real grass.

The meals tax is part of the FCPS plan to deal with this. Hold FCPS accountable for its foolishness by voting against the meals tax. Pat Hynes, instead of campaigning against local restaurants, should devote her energies to making sure the parties behind the turf fields reap the "benefits" of their actions.

The turf fields are a general county thing to off set the loss of tax revenue caused by the bursting of the housing bubble post Bush. The schools got involved because they have the land.
