Pre-season doesn't really matter, does it?

My prediction? Portis won't play. Todd Collins and Colt Brennan will play most of the game. Troy Smith will play most of the game for the Ravens. The score doesn't count so it doesn't really matter.

Here's my hope: The Skins get pwned and the season implodes before it starts. Fuck you, Dan Snyder!

Campbell plays the first series. Then it's the Collins, Brennan, and Daniel show.

Portis and Haynesworth will not play. Glad the season is here but as someone else already said, it doesn't matter, it's preseason.

I just hope there are no major injuries. Go Skins!

Did you guys read the Post article about the Skins O-Line? Basically the Redskin rookie D-Liners were blowing right through it in practice. This is going to be brutal.

That will happen the first time someone comes off the D-Line in a Ravens 3-4 coverage package and takes Campbell down. If that happens without a blitz being dialed up, the wringing of hands and gnashing of teeth will begin.

Did Dan Snyder learn nothing as a fan? The only reason the Skins won in 91/92 was because the O line was awesome. Mark Rypien got sacked something like 7 times the ENTIRE season. Be literally had all day to sit back, hand it off or pass it. My grandmother could have passed for 2000 yards with the time he had.

I really believe that Dan Snyder's intent is to have the offense blow up this year. He can then get rid of everyone Joe Gibbs brought in. In the off-season, he can do his Fantasy Football shit again with the Offense and then hire someone like Shanahan or Cowher to run it. If you look at it, Snyder has done nothing with the offense this year. This has to be his plan.

No doubt. You also forgot the 3rd and Long draw play. Love that one, too.

Maybe Snyder is a beleiver in "offense wins games; defense wins championships" or something like that. Feel free to correct me.

well the defense cant do everything. offense cant even keep it for more than one 1st down most the time. 3rd and out isnt going to win anything. defense has no time to rest = sloppy coverage

they need to learn how to keep a lead
last season they were up many games and just do to a weak effort on the offense. they are 3rd and out 3rd and out 3rd and out.

that costs em atleast 3 games last season. maybe 2

My prediction is that Campbell runs one series and throws a pick and the media will go on and on about it until Colt Brennan is the starter about four games into the season. Brennan will then get the "Patrick Ramsey Treatment" behind that horrible O-Line and in two years will be the third string QB for Buffalo.

While he cost the team against the Rams last year, I think the Skins made a mistake getting rid of Pete Kendall on the O-Line.

The clock management still sucks. The Skins were 1:20 in the 2nd Quarter and, instead of calling one of his remaining two time outs, Zorn let the team get a delay of game. WTF??? Then Fred Davis, who looks like he has never held a football in his life, coughs it up!!!

On the flipside, Troy Smith ran a 59-second offense like a fucking veteran and scored a touchdown.

How many games will it take before Snyder blows a gasket and fires Zorn? 9 games? 10??

It's just the preseason. Don't overreact anyone. A lot of the good starters aren't even playing. I would say lets get Mike Vick; he can run away from the missed blocks of our o-line (but goddamn it, just heard the Eagles signed him)

Can't blame tonight on the the o-line. Campbell had all night back there to throw and still couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.

(sigh) FUCK!

I realize this is the first game of the pre-season but, seriously, what looked good? Campbell's dump-off passes? Ladell Betts running into the back of his own O-Line on virtually every carry? Zorn calling two running plays in a row, even though the second one was at 2nd and 10? The terrible clock management? The complete collapse of the Secondary against Joe Flacco, who had one of the worst completion rates for a starting QB last year? The linebackers being out of place constantly? The total lack of pass-rush on every play? The lackluster Special Teams play?

The only highlight was that Malcolm Kelly can actually catch a ball. Other than that, there was nothing tonight that should give anyone confidence (unless you are a Ravens fan, which I am).

Should they look good? What significant changes have there been that indicate that this team is really any different? Their offensive line is made of Styrofoam. The receivers have hands made from Crisco. Campbell couldn't complete a pass on a drunk sorority girl. The defense can keep the games close but can't get all the points on the board themselves.

About the best the Redskins can hope for is not to be in the bottom quarter of the teams in the league. Stay medium! Until Snyder feels the sting of dropping sales and empty parking lots, nothing will really change.

Re: Redskins vs Ravens Thrusday Night 7:30pm

This is a fucking massacre. Joe Theismann can make as many excuses as he wants for this team. There was NOTHING positive about tonight.

You know what Zorn is going to do about this? Nothing. He is going to give a press conference and say nothing of any consequence. He is going to do shit about it.

You know what Belichick, Coughlin, Cowher, etc would do? They would make damn fucking sure every fucking starter was on the field for the first quarter of the next game. They would read the fucking riot act to these overpaid assholes. And all of those guys would tell Snyder to fuck off if he wouldn't give them the personnel they need not to be part of this kind of embarrassment.

The only thing preseason is good for is getting your starters injured. If teams were smart they'd ONLY play players that are competing for positions.

But that said it was depressing to see, yet again, the Redskins sucking at whatever it is they are doing.

I'm definitely following the Ravens this season. Flacco has a fucking rifle for an arm, and he looked a lot more accurate last night than he did last season. I'm sure Danny Boy will do everything in his power to keep Ravens games off of DC-market TV. The Ravens are perennial contenders and the team's ownership knows how to run an NFL franchise.

Caps for sure. I still like the Nats, just because I like baseball. I don't believe the Lerners are malicious, like Snyder. Just cheap and kind of clueless about what it takes to field a winning team.

Just one preseason games. Don't panic. This team was a .500 club and did not get any worse. Adding Haynesworth and Orakpo (he's going to be big) will only help as we never got to the qb last year. The starting defense held them to a couple field goals. That was a positive in the game.

The negative was the offense, but no clinton portis or santana moss played. They have to continually shoot for around 20 points with the defense and they'll be a good club. The depth at the o-line is what is gonna kill come injury. The whole second half the quarterbacks were being chased by 3rd string defensive players.

Keep your cool though Skins followers. The Colts lost like 8 straight preseason games in a 3 year span and still went on to win 12 games each year. Belichick had the Patriots starters play to halftime (which the offense in particular needs to be doing, fuck Clinton Portis's whining about playing).

Pre-season means nothing and the first game of the pre-season really means nothing.

But, c'mon, the Skins, from the play-calling to the personnel to the clock management, all looked worse than last year!

People saying this is going to be an 9-7, 8-8 or 7-9 season are out of their minds. This is going to be an implosion! 4-12 is probably being optimistic. I can see 2-14. The question is, will Danny Boy be willing to throw Vinny overboard with Zorn and Campbell and get a real GM in? Probably not.

As you said Washing, it's the first game of the preseason and means nothing. The play-calling is always reserved in the preseason and the alot of the personnel didn't play. When they have the same roster with same coaches and some nice additions, it's hard to be worse from those standpoints and clock management wise can only get better from last year. This was a 8-8 team last year, I see them around there again this year competing for the playoffs.

Believe me, I know the disappointment my optimism has brought me the last fifteen years or so, but this is still a solid football team. To say 2-4 wins I find ridiculous.

Zorn won the first half of last season because it took other teams about 8 games to figure out his offensive scheme. Now that they know it, Zorn is going to find it much tougher to win this year. And I doubt he will change it up much. He may add a few plays here and there. But, if Gibbs and Spurrier could have 4 or 5 wins in their second years, Zorn sure the hell can, too.
