Jump Rope team

Hey everyone,

Just moved to the area from PA where I was a former member of a jump rope team. It was really great...in fact I'm looking to get back into it! Are there any other jump rope enthusiasts out there? I've heard that some of the local elementary schools have jump rope teams, anyone know what the deal is with these? Thanks!

Jump on!

At the secondary school where I taught, there was a double dutch jump rope team. It was mostly all black girls and they were great. They could do tricks and stuff. I have not seen any jump ropers any where else but you could call the people who write the Wash. Post Sunday Source and see if they will do an article and help you find others. Good luck

Agreed... totally inappropriate and I don't understand where this hatred comes from.

Why is my post racist? I don't hate anyone, I was just telling the jump rope poster about the team at my school.

Here is a way to make a post that isn't stuffed with racist hatred and bigotry, except leaving the sexism if you insist:

"At the secondary school where I taught, there was a double dutch jump rope team. It was mostly all girls and they were great. They could do tricks and stuff."

And then the best way:

"At the secondary school where I taught, there was a double dutch jump rope team. It was great. The team could do tricks and stuff."

I'm part of an elite group of hopscotch players. Only a few of us are still left in the NoVa area.

If this is a serious question, I know of two local programs...

The Laurel Ridge Lions (formerly Ridge Ropers) at Laurel Ridge Elementary in Fairfax (near Robinson Secondary) is a non-competitive jump rope team for grades 2-6. They perform at community events (e.g., Fairfax Fair) and nursing homes.

Jumping Buddies (www.jumpingbuddy.com) in Woodbridge is a competitive team. Several of my daughter's friends from Laurel Ridge were on this team, too. The team was founded by Buddy Lee about 15 years ago.

There may be others in the area, but these are the ones that I know of.

There is a gym in NVA that has won national championships. If you are seriously interested, put forth some effort and figure it out...otherwise, troll away.
