Lightning bugs - where are they?
Posted by: lightning bexit ()

I've seen a few here and there, but not like I remember in the past. However, I may be

-thinking nostalgically
-too early in the season
-in the wrong location
-suffering from a massive brainfart

Anyone else?

Good day to all and may the lightning bugs be plentiful and please our eyes with the little glows in the night sky! PEACE

Lightning bugs prefer the company of whites. NOVA has far too many brown, savage, illegal mud-people for lightning bugs to tolerate.

They like to congregate in trees. I was walking outside couple nites ago and saw hundreds of them in Burke.

If theres a shortage, its due to construction.

Tear down the trees and they lose their natural habitat!! Disturb the ground and thus kill their larva.

Still a little early.

They've started over the last couple of weeks.

There will be more in the next few.

I thought Hispanics eat lightning bugs to help power their brain for the rest of the year which is why you don't see as many since the Hispanic population is exploding.

I was driving from Winchester to Aldie on Route 50 last Sunday evening around dusk. I would say for about 15 miles the center median and sides of the roads were totally lit up with hundreds of thousands of fireflies. I must have had at least a dozen hit my windshield and leave a phosphorescent glow.

Anyway, I have been seeing them around my house in Fairfax County for a couple of weeks now.
