Expand the perimeters of your thinking just a bit. INOVA has acquired the old Exxon-Mobil corporate headquarters property. I think we can expect a new medical campus to develop there that will make the current INOVA hospital on Gallows Rd. look like a failed first attempt. Merrifield has a planned business district anchored by a Target, plenty of parking, a hotel, a multi-screen cinema, several excellent restaurants, and a contiguous housing area with a variety of types of housing. Peripheral to Merrifield is a Home Depot, and two shopping centers dating from the 60s that are ripe for demolition and redevelopment. Development around Dunn Loring metro continues. A little further up Gallows we come to Tysons, Rt 7, and all that entails. The Dunn Loring phenomenon is just urban infill, between the already built-up areas of Falls Church, Tysons, Fairfax and Vienna. If you're looking for someplace to put a little money where the value is close to guaranteed to grow, you could do a lot, lot worse than investing in Dunn Loring real estate.
