what should I do about this (try 2)

I coach, and my team is very successful. Recently I have asked to move up in rank - even though that position is not open currently - I have asked to switch with that coach because I feel I can make a significant impact on the higher level. I was told that what level I was at was very beneficial to the program because I can develop the players better and that I'm doing a great job. Which kind of makes me wonder... I'm the only coach with a winning record in the past two seasons that I have been there - (I have been at that location for two years) - why am I being turned down if the coach right above me at the higher level can't coach their way out of a paper bag? I feel like I can do a lot of great things at the higher level. How should I go about approaching this?

(Better typing this our than using voice text like I did the first time...)

Keep trying. You still don't make sense. Better yet, just give up.

Meet with the guy you want to replace and pick his mind about all he knows. That way at least on the knowledge side of things, you'll be on par.

Also, remember that coaching is not all about winning. You already know that, but there is such a thing as a winning team, where the kids won't return the following season because of how the coach made them feel.

Most kids want to learn but they will choose having fun over winning most of the time. It is the memories of learning and having fun which go a long way -- not simply another trophy or T-shirt.

What can you offer them that they can take and apply throughout their lives?

You must coach out of love for the game and more importantly out of love for the kids -- to make a difference in their lives -- not for your own personal ego or status.

Hey, come to worst place in the world for advice. Good job turd.

I'd fire you just for thinking you could solicit information in your stupid coaching endeavors. That is, if this place is what you choose for coaching notes, you're a horrible coach. Does that make sense?

OK. So you are a football coach who is trying to gain a Head Coaching ("move up in rank") position after being assistant for 2 years under a good coach with players who were already good athletes had 2 "winning seasons". Now you want to steal a head coach's position because that coach has not had a winning season and youbelieve with your assistant coaching experience of 2 years, you can do better.

You figure YOU are the missing ingredient regardless of all the other factors involved with building a winning team (playing with the hand your dealt as in players and assistant coaches you end up with)

What you should do about it is accept the position you are given this coming season. If it is assistant again -- do it and learn all you can from the Head Coach and other assistant coaches without being a BACK STABBER or Fault Finder.

Learn from them and grow with the organization.

If you happen to get the head Coaches position, then you will quickly learn all that it takes to be a Head Coach including the fact that you are actually a servant to your assistants, players, players' parents and everyone around you without asking to be.

And after you learn everything you can from the head coach, and you then end up stuck in the same job, and you are still winning hands over fist--then--put out your resume to other schools that might have a head coach position open then or in the future. They will jump at the chance to get you if all of the above keeps looking good. NEVER burn a bridge behind you. Someday you could easily end up back where you are now when they need someone that way.

I saw it here.

Most of the world got by just fine without football for thousands of years. Most of the world still does.

In the grand scheme of things, football (and that means football coaches) just don't make a difference, unless they are Jerry Sandusky.

There is no greater American sport than Football. Baseball has a longer history, but football is more complex.
You say that coaches don't make a difference?

What sports exactly have you played?

As a coach I don't pretend that football is EVERYTHING. It's not. The sport does however convey a lot of what life's about with respect to overcoming difficult situations. Other than what's gained from parental influence, I do not believe there's any greater influence which can be made upon young lives outside of coaching, no matter what the activity or sport.

Football is far more expensive than chess and excludes females. In addition, there is no "chess rape problem" but football rape is a major problem.

Eliminating high school football would save money and make the schools safer.

This so-called "chess rape" is an isolated incident. Football rape is widespread and pernicious.

Ever seen anything like this in chess?

Didn't think so. Try telling some other countries about the link between football and greatness, they'll just laugh at you.

You need to start playing on the new turf fields. That will improve your record then maybe you'll be considered for promotion.

"other countries" -- You're clearly an anti-American propagandist. Go back to your village overseas and sleep in the mud.
