Dog Bite Victim in Van Dyck Park

ATTENTION
Dog Bite Notification

To the woman walking two big dogs in Van Dyck Park (Fairfax, VA) on Wednesday May 25, 2016 at 8:30 am and to anyone who was in the park that morning.

I am trying to locate the owner of the dogs because one dog bit me. I did not see the mark initially because it was on my hip and further on my back than what I could see at the time. This is why I did not get any information. When I got home and looked in the mirror, I saw the marks.

I just want to confirm that your dog has been vaccinated for rabies so I don’t have to get a rabies series. Please show some character and come forward. If your dogs have been vaccinated, NO LEGAL ACTION WILL BE TAKEN. I just want to avoid the series of shots and the expense I will incur. PLEASE COME FORWARD!

IF YOU WERE IN THE PARK THE MORNING OF MAY 25, 2016 and saw the woman and her dogs, can you please call animal control and give them a description? It would help to verify my description and maybe locate the dogs and the owner.

Animal Description: Possibly Weimaraner dogs or a mix. Off-white with possibly some gray in the fur. Short hair dogs, floppy ears. Waist high.
Owner Description: Brown hair a little below the shoulder (possibly curly), slightly overweight, wearing sunglasses, late 40’s or early 50’s.

Call Animal Control:
703-385-7919

Clean it with soap and wAter. I highly doubt a woman is walking a rabid dog

Actually I am not a pussy. I ran a 1/2 Mile home at a 7minute mile pace right after the bite. Check out animal control. They are taking it seriously with the notices they have hanging around the park and they don't have any dogs registered that fit the description. they are recommending the shots.

I'm glad I didn't read a whining thread, but an actual intelligent post about a person taking care of themselves. I don't get all the trolling for this thread, getting those shots suck!

You should have confronted them immediately since a bite is definitely distinguishable from say a scratch. When I registered my dog, the guy at the shelter said you should always take a picture with your phone of your license showing that your dog has the rabies vaccine, but hey people are self-centered pieces of shit.

I can't stand when people don't control their dog.

Thank you okayyeano!!!! I really appreciate your post!

this is what the bite looked like initially. It was on my back where I couldn't see it. I just didn't see a mark. When I took a shower after I reported it, I then saw my hip - the bottom part of the bite. It progressively got worse.

I stopped and turned and yelled "your dog bit me". She started walking toward me and I told her to stay back that I didn't want her dogs near me. I looked and did not see a mark and then yelled at her to control her dogs. I was just so shocked that it even happened. I run all the time and have passed hundreds of dogs and never has this happened. I regret not getting her information, but again, I did not see the mark and it all happened so fast. So, huge regrets on my part, but I really was trying to be cool about it too.

It is too bad there are trolls on here because those dogs are at the face level of small children and while it is unlikely they have rabies, they can endanger others.

With all that said, I live in another state. I was just there visiting. I didn't realize this was such a big deal because I have had BOTH state health departments call me and BOTH have told me to get the rabies series if we don't find the dog in 10 days.

I want no harm to the woman or dogs. I love dogs! If they are vaccinated, then there will be no legal action. I just want to know they are vaccinated and maybe she can take some dog classes on how to better train them.
Please help get the word out.

A couple of things...

That's not a dog bite. It's syphilis.

Second, if you are too fucking stupid to realize you have syphilis and want to blame it on some poor puppies - then you'll wind up like the other snowflakes.

No legal action will be taken because you can't just decide days later that some dogs you saw bit you. That's the syphilis talking - hallucinations.

Wow! I have never been on this forum before, but it is providing some great humor for me. I didn't know so many ignorant people had so much time on your hands. Say what you want. I truly feel sorry for you all. I hope that some of you can get a life, so you don't have to spend your life being a troll online.

Dog bite victim - Are you still in the area? People that walk their dogs do it routinely, so most likely it would be very easy to run in to her again.

I'm pretty sure after this post the next 10 replies will be political insults.

Maybe not. Since the Washington Post and State Department both concluded this week that Hillary Clinton did indeed commit felonies in hiding her emails from public review, then lied about it in an illegal conspiracy, it's been pretty quiet.

No, I live in another state. Flew back that night. Animal control has been patrolling the park at the same time and various other times, but they also have notice signs everywhere, so I imagine she may be taking her dogs on another route.

I know I shouldn't egg the trolls on, but what the heck? Bring on the nasty posts. If it gets this post more attention and we can find the dog, then great! I can take it. =)

I really appreciate your helpfulness!

Didn't Obama say he enjoyed eating dog when he was studying to be a Muslim as a teen in the far east?

Were these dogs both on a leash? If not, the owner or the dog walker she may have hired to walk them is to be held legally responsible. I don't know about anywhere in NOVA that there is no requirement to keep dogs on a leash in public, except in peoples ho,es and in the dog parks.

Secondly, if they were on a leash and you were just running by them on the trail, the woman in charge of the dogs had to know they were lunging at you if she had them on a leash. So either way she can be charged with negligence and could even be fined. At the least she should pay your resulting medical bills.

Big dogs have to be walked at least two times daily. Just take a walk around the area around the time you were running when it happened and wait for her and the dogs to show up. Then you can ask her for the information needed.

I guess this is legal since it's in public, but you could just get a GoPro and a big 12v battery and put it in your car and record several days on the time lapse setting. Then just fast forward through it until you find her.

Thank you to the helpful people. Animal control confirmed a woman who owns 2 Weimaraners. They have called her and went by her home, but have not 100% confirmed if they are the dogs. Good news that we are making progress, but please call animal control if you have a lead!

Thanks!

Did you tell your mom when you got home? She could put an ice pack on it so you wouldn't have to threaten "legal action". You got nipped. That sucks. I agree. Move on. BFD to anyone not directly involved. You are coming across as a spectacularly special snowflake. Sorry.

I'm sure that dog owner is happy to be described as "heavy set" and middle aged.

If you weren't clear that you were bitten are you sure that those are bite marks? Could you have bumped into something or sat on something or brushed past something?

Did the dog aggressively attack you? What happened?

Given that a weimaraner costs around 1000 bucks I'm sure they are vaccinated. Dogs get the rabies shot at 4 months.

I got bit by a wild dog on a beach in the Bahamas and it drew blood, little fucker ran straiht for me, bit my calf and ran off. I went back to the hotel and asked the dipshit manager if he knew what rabies was. Guy was so stoned and just said, "we don't got no rabies here mon"

I had a couple of shots (rum) and had a swing in the sea. Was 5 years ago so I guess I am cool.

I do know that beavers at Lake Anna have been known to have rabies, but I'm sure you are cool. I know VA takes that shit seriously. You should find the bitch and sue her, leave the dogs alone though not their fault.

Also, if you were running how the fuck did it bite you on the back?

i'm sure the county posts paper signs in the outdoors where rain would ruin them in 2 seconds flat

is someone trying to legitimize a lawsuit here about a bite that never happened or didn't happen in the county park?

i'm sure the county posts rabies warnings for typical dog bites from a dog "attended by an owner"

yes there's been a history of that in va and in this county huh?

are you a socialist trying to get a lawsuit on the county? or a facist getting paid to put up bogus signs and participate in a fake lawsuit?
