Anyone have any idea what the exam is like? Toying with the idea of taking the prep class. Is it worth the $1,200?

You can take an online course that will prepare you for the questions you will be asked. I took the class at NOVA and while I can't say it was a complete waste, I learned more on the online exam. Best advice I can give you if you take the NOVA Class is to use it as an opportunity to Network with other contractors.

Correction: It's been a while but the NOVA Class is a requirement. I would highly recommend the online course as well just to assure you pass the first time. I had one of the highest scores they had seen in quite a while. Of course, I previously held a B License.

Is the Virginia Class A license still an open book Test as it was:
when I took the exam in Richmond and got licensed in the mid 90's?

Lake Royal was the go to for getting rid of day laborers to avoid payment but they are dredging now so other lakes need to be considered.

Yes, it's still open book but you still need to know the material or you likely won't get done within the time limit.

2 parts. First is a lot of material to look through to find answers. This is for class b or c. Second section is for class a and you will have to extrapolate many of the answers. I took the coure, but ended up just reading the material thoroughly til I really understood it.

Why am I not surprised that there is a class at NOVA that teaches how to pick up a hammer.

Probably because you are an idiot who doesn't understand the course is mainly about topics such as OSHA Compliance, Accounting, Bidding Government Contracts, Tax Compliance, Profitability etc.

Now shut the fuck up about something you know nothing about.

Take the class that walks you through the book and shows you where to place tabs. This will save you time during the exam. The class I took was just outside Richmond. Well worth the time and money. The Class A pass rate was about 30% when I took it. Not an easy test.Good luck.
