18-year-old arrested in connection to Centreville High School student's death

CENTREVILLE, Va. - A Centreville High School student has been arrested and charged with drug offenses related to the death of a fellow student, police say.
Back in March, 17-year-old Alexia Springer was found unconscious and not breathing at her home by a friend who had spent the night, police said. When police and paramedics arrived, they found no signs of life.
According to the medical examiner's office last month, Springer died of an accidental overdose from a combination of morphine, alprazolam, oxycodone and alcohol in her system.

David Evers, 18, of Clifton, turned himself into police last Thursday in connection to Springer's death. He has been charged with manufacturing, selling, giving, distributing, or possessing with intent to manufacture, sell, give, or distribute a controlled substance or an imitation controlled substance prohibited.
Evers is being held at Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and the investigation is ongoing.
The federal government now says more people die from drug overdoses than in car crashes.
In Fairfax County, the government is trying to stay on top of a heroin problem, which they say the county does have. The number of deaths from heroin overdoses in the county has doubled between 2013 and 2014 and Fire and Rescue has responded to 291 suspected heroin overdoses across the county between 2011 and 2014.
