When did Church of the Apostles on Pickett Road become the DC Metro Church?

...and did the fact that Ollie North worshipped there somehow cause them to close up shop and sell?

Church of the Apostles was some kind of fucked up fundamentalism, I'll say that...

They had a sign up on Braddock Road east of the FFX PKWY for 20 years saying "Future Home of Church of the Apostles". They never built the new church. Why buy the land and just let it sit for 20+ years?

Because nobody could have predicted that this county would be overrun by the godless pieces of shit holding the reins for the last twenty years.

They had a falling out with the Episcopal Church after the Episcopal Church ordained a gay pastor (or something like that) and had to leave because they didn't own the building the Episcopal Church did. I think the Church of the Apostles is Anglican.

Church of the Apostles was forced to vacate the Pickett Road property in 2012 following a court decision that the Episcopal Church owned church properties under the so-called Dennis Canon. COA wasn't alone; many other former Episcopal congregations around the country, including about 10 others in the Northern Virginia area, were sued for their property and lost. It's been estimated that the Episcopal Church has spent at least $40 million on property recovery lawsuits.

There was no congregation of continuing Episcopalians to take over the vacated building, so it was put up for sale. DC Metro Church purchased the property and began holding services there in 2013. Meanwhile, the Episcopal Church continues shrinking. It won't be too much longer before they'll be able to hold their triennial General Convention in a phone booth - that is, if any phone booths still exist.

The so-called Conservative Episcopals are joining the Roman Catholic Church in droves, leaving a lot of female, gay, and transgender ministers looking for work.

Some former Episcopalians have done so, and a few others joined the Orthodox Church. However, other former Episcopalians formed the Anglican Church in North America seven years ago. A number of former Episcopal congregations in our area, including Church of the Apostles, Truro and the Falls Church Anglican, now belong to ACNA. The local ACNA bishop, John Guernsey, is based in Woodbridge.

Is that what one would call a "Redneck Reverend"?

Church of the Apostles (Anglican) just purchased an empty lot at 11717 Lee Highway, next to Lee Plaza in Fairfax.
