Name each school after an important piece of knowledge:

1) Long Division Elementary School

2) Bill of Rights Middle School

3) Avogadro's Number High School

FCPS could use the same system they used to solicit comments on saving money to get new school names. They should form a pool of names, sort them by school type, then allocate at random. Each school needs to find something in its budget to cut in order to pay for the new signage and so on.

You could be correct about the older generation. That's because

#1. We know those who don't learn from history tend to repeat. History should be taught in context with the times. You can't apply 2016 mores to 1850.

#2 There isn't another country in the world who allows their flaws to show in their history, most tend to erase it.

#3 They weren't traitors...do some reading, Treason is defined in Art. 3, Sec. 3 of the U.S. Constitution
No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court." Notice it says" only in levying War against them" meaning individual states or a state. It is not treating the "United States as a single entity, but rather as a collection of sovereign states which it was. They weren't traitors, that's one of the reasons they never tried Jefferson Davis.

#4 Diversity should be accepted unless its our own history (?), then sweep it under the rug.

#5 This will set a precedent, it should start with the School Board being named after Lord Fairfax, do you really thinks its wise to bankrupt the county?

Erase their history? What's your source?

Oh, bullshit. If naming schools sets a precedent, then we'd have kept naming schools after stupid Confederates after 1958 and Lake Braddock would be Nathan Bedford Forrest HS instead. Renaming Stuart won't do anything other than change the name of that school.

And only an idiot thinks changing the name on uniforms that were going to be replaced in a few years anyway is going to bankrupt the county.

You conservatards really are stupid. No wonder you all support some rich Ivy League asshole like Trump who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth.

Big word..."Conservatards" for such a small mind. Nope Trump is not on my radar, neither is your gal Hillary, I consider it a choice of picking your poison.

You may not be aware of this but there are students who are their families "breadwinners", children who save their school lunch for the weekends or younger siblings,I'd rather give them a stipend then to see the county school system which is running a 130 million deficit waste our money.

Really, if they change Stuart because of slavery associated with the civil war what will be their defense to not change Robert E Lee? What will be their defense for not changing TJHS, he owned slaves, what will be their defense for not changing Woodson because the falsely hold him responsible for Stuart and Lee, what will be their defense for not changing Lanier MS, he's a confederate poet, attended Jefferson Davis's wedding.

And you are extremely naïve to believe once the school starts, the County will not follow suit. Goodbye George Mason University, actually Fairfax County and the Mason district. The Lord Fairfax crest/seal is on all county vehicles, the county police cars, trash trucks, stationary, paychecks, flags, police uniforms, county buildings....Opps Fairfax HS has to change.

The Nazis and the Japs during the big one is not quite the same as honorable, educated men like Lee, Jackson, Mosby, Stuart.

Pillars of American history.

Google is your friend...

Japanese history textbook controversies involve controversial content in government-approved history textbooks used in the secondary education…. The controversies primarily concern the Japanese nationalist efforts to whitewash the actions of the Empire of Japan during World War II

African history has been raped and destroyed by Europeans

Updated: Islamic State group seeks to erase history in Iraq ...

Lithuania wants to erase its ugly history of Nazi collaboration

LAST month, a Cairo court ordered that images of the ousted Egyptian president, Hosni Mubarak, and his wife, Suzanne, as well as their names, be removed from all “public squares, streets, libraries and other public institutions around the country.”

The Soviet Union……The most common examples of photograph alteration and falsification come from communist Russia. Unwanted persons, so-called "enemies of the people" were not only killed, but also removed from photographs where their presence was unwanted. Photographs were altered with the intent of changing the past

January 1 is a very dark day for those of us who are living in exile, having left Cuba, the Communist island prison. It is also a dark day in modern history, as the international community continues to ignore 55 years of murder and oppression committed by Fidel Castro and his band of Communist criminals. The longer you ignore injustice, the more it is erased from history

I think it is only appropriate that "First Nations" nomenclature should be substituted for any locality, vessel or institution named after a wicked White 'settler', even if he happened to have been born in Canada. After all, what did Canadians of European origin ever do for this country, except build it? Yes indeed, the name changers are on a roll.

It's an event that China is desperate to erase from the history books, and this month marks an unprecedented government effort to do so in the run-up to the 25th anniversary of the tragedy. So how does one country try to wipe all traces of one of the most important political events in history? Here's how China has successfully rewritten its own history books. As the June anniversary of the massacre approaches every year, Google services in China suspiciously slow down. This year, Google services affected include the search engine, Maps, Translate, and Gmail.

Above were the ORIGINAL names of these lands. And you can clearly see African presence in the bible. But, in order to whitewash the bible, European scholars had to rename MIZRAIM to Egypt and CUSH also renamed Ethiopia or Nubia. This was done to conceal the true identity of the blackman (Ham) who was later to have Judah (Jews)/Jesus Christ/Hebrews as his descendants

It's not even just the Sicilians. Spanish, Portuguese, Greek, Albanian, Cypriot, Turkish and most notoriously, Egyptian groups have had their African heritage erased by our Eurocentric society……. . Numerous Egyptian monuments have been altered throughout history by Europeans. Notably, the Sphinx has been vandalized to hide the African features on the face of the great landmark. The whitewashing of Ancient Egypt is so obvious and pathetic it's not even funny. This has been practiced since the 1000s and still continues to this day.

Ancient Greek and Roman civilizations have likewise been whitewashed throughout history.

Suddenly I wondered whether somehow the erasure of the history of the Jews in Tortosa was similar to this monument of Franco’s. We often say history is written by the victors, and that’s certainly the case in Tortosa—both by the Christians, who pretend that Jews were a trivial, incidental part of Tortosa’s history, and by the followers of Franco, who pretend the monument represents all who died.

The country with the least degree of press freedom was Eritrea, followed by North Korea, Turkmenistan, Syria, China, Vietnam and Sudan.
The problem with India, the world's largest democracy, is enormous. India doesn't have a model for a democratic press. .... Indian journalists are forced—or feel compelled for the sake of job security—to report in ways that reflect the political opinions. Ravi S Jha says "Indian journalism, with its lack of freedom and self-regulation, cannot be trusted now—it is currently known for manipulation and bias."

Let me know when you are ready for the next batch.
