The Best of Lavar Arrington
Posted by: Really? ()
Date: July 28, 2009 05:37PM

This thread will be dedicated strictly to Lavar Arrington quotes. There will be no thoughts/analysis/opinions/joaning. The quotes will speak for themselves.

Talking about how every time Terrell Owens goes to a new team the fanbase loves him:

"Just like they loved all them Caesars in Rome after they jacked Rome up."

On baseball: "You cant guarantee a victory with a perfect game"

On swimming: "The water is your opponent in swimming"

On football: "There is no such thing as mediocrity in the NFL"

Do you write the transcript for the show?

That is directed to you, or possibly both of you, but somehow I doubt it.

So those other swimmers in the pool with you must be your fans.

I knew the Detroit Lions were a great team!

Actually, in 1958 Harvey Haddix, of Pittsburgh, pitched a perfect game and lost. Indeed, he pitched 12 perect innings before losing in the 13th.

I was going to go with something like that, but by definition a "perfect game" means nobody on the opposing team touched base. You can lose a no hitter because of an error. Perfect games don't include errors.

Technically, Haddix didn't pitch a perfect game, because a perfect game is defined as keeping the opponent off the bases for the entire course of the game, which he failed to do, despite pitching 9+ perfect innings.

12 perfect innings is NOT a perfect GAME

Lavar eventually admitted as much:

"OK, then he's right"

Yeah baseball considered it an asterisk-perfect game, like the Ernie Shore/Babe Ruth game back in the 1910's, until sometime in the early 90's when the decided formally the rules for what is a perfect game (and a no hitter, which was under controversy because 5-inning rain-shortened games were included as no-hitters until then)

No one said Lavar isn't smart, he just says lots of stupid things,,,,and HE"S BORING!

To be honest, I dont have any more quotes because I have already stopped listening

Lavar does sound pretty amateur. He's really bad at radio so far.

His "interviews" mostly consist of ass-kissing and homeboy talk. He leaves all the serious stuff to Dukes. So far he hasn't contributed much substance to his own show.

edit to add that Lavar also seems to be over-talking, like he thinks he needs to fill time or something. Conversations are not flowing naturally and he is trying to use words that are above his vocabulary level too often (doing that once in a while is normal but he does it all show long)

Agreed. The only natural part of the show is when Lavar is homeboy-talking with the football player guests. His most natural-sounding quote yesterday came when they hung up with Bart Scott - "That's B SIZZLE right there!"

I listened to the segment concerning Deep sea diving vs pitching a perfect game. Really they are both sports but its apples and oranges which is the MORE Difficult thing to do. It was an asinine argument. Unless they were playing baseball underwater in the Marianas trench or something its two completely different sports.

Ok, todays show was actually pretty good,,,,

I admit it,,,,I was entertained

Even a blind nut finds a squirrel occasionally

Lavar did however offer this gem:

"Ed McCaffery and Rod Smith are Hall of Famers"

And Chad, Santanna Moss IS better than Wes Welker

I agree. It was entertaining, but it did drag on too long. And even looking at the statistics, how the hell can anyone say that Wes Welker is better than Santana Moss? I agree with Arrington. Both Randel El and Moss should be in the slot. They would both have much better numbers if they were because they are totally wasted as flankers or speedsters on the sides.

Oh, and neither Rod Smith nor Ed McCaffrey belong in the Hall of Fame. They were both fine utility receivers, but neither one of them were "great" receivers.

Dare to be different, because being just like every other sports talk radio station is boring.

The Dukes/LaVar fighting actually works. It's good radio to hear Chad get under LaVar's skin. Arrington's ego cost him a Hall of Fame career and probably a Super Bowl ring with the Giants. He's done nothing to be above criticism.

I've got a gem:

"Far and few between"

repeated for emphasis about 3 times while Chad could be heard snickering in the background-and Lavar thought he was making a profound point.

On Bart Scotts contract:

"B-Sizzle,that's a grown man right there,he deserves that contract!"

Redskins training camp issues:

"I got some opinions on that,,,,I'm gonna keep them to myself."

BUT,,,Lavar also said (about A. Haynesworth knee problems at camp)

" ,,that's the begining of the end, that's knee on knee."

If Lavar is right,,,,he gets tons of credibility. He's definately the first to point this out.

Here at McSucks we strive to be fair and balanced---noooooo not really

but that was an interesting observation,,,

Now pass the Hatorade,,,"Hey CBS,the Fan SUCKS,,go to hell,,,,and you suck"

It's just sad that he really can't talk about anything by the NFL -- not to say he does that well -- when the thing that made the BOAD show great is that they could tackle ANY topic and sound natural. Anyone notice how he does a lot of the dumb "talk radio" stuff that Chad always used to make fun of, like hooting in and out of breaks? God I hate it, I imagine every sitting around in the station, hoping against hope that he doesn't sound like a complete FOOL. Also he's the biggest Redskins apologist in town. Does he not here the f'ing promos on his own station?!?!

Saw that his restaurant in PG Co. closed lots and lots of debt around 5 million. Rick Doc Walker should have told him that restaurants are bad news. Anyone remember the Rick Walker Scoreboard Restaurant in Fairfax City? Was not around for that long.

Apparently they filed for bankruptcy 18 months after they opened. They closed two days before Christmas, using an e-mail to notify the staff, who hadn't been paid...

Stay classy, Lavar.

The Washington Post has more...

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/12/24/AR2009122403098.html

This is my favorite paragraph...

The filing listed more than two dozen creditors, including $766,000 owed to Commercial Interiors, an interior design company, and $109,000 owed in sales tax. Capital Centre LLC, which runs the Boulevard at the Capital Centre, had pursued court action claiming the Sideline wasn't paying its rent and filed a motion to compel the immediate surrender of the property in October.

So the Interior Designer was never paid? How the hell does that happen? Sales taxes weren't paid, either? Rent wasn't paid???

This thing was a disaster from the start.

According to WJLA, his pissed off employees plan to show up at WJFK when he is back on the air next week. Tee Hee....

Theismann's restaurant isn't anything to write home about. However, you can tell Theismann didn't spend millions of dollars on the interior and it is in a good location for surrounding hotels and business travelers. Sticking a high end eatery that looks like a sports bar in "da hood," is probably not the best investment strategy.
