Back Injury update and medical/insurance scams

Original message and then update:

Can a back injury affect your legs? A few weeks ago I missed the last step and fell on my left hip and my lower back and legs have been in pain. Fell hard like a bag of rocks. Can hardly turn over when sleeping or getting up. Haven't been to a doc yet, just taking Alieve and such.

Went to the doctor's office today and all they did was recommend PT. The doctor sees me a total of maybe 7 minutes. They get my co-pay and then will also skim off around $300 from the insurance company.
And we wondered why the medical profession and insurance companies are such scams!!

When I went to do PT with Inova, before my first appointment the receptionist wanted to sign me up for 30 visits. I only needed like 7. She also said they would cost about $60 since I don't have insurance. They were more like $120. So watch out for that if you go to PT..

A back injury can absolutely affect your legs.

Get a second opinion. Preferably from an orthopedist.

The doctor wouldn't even give me pain medication for it. Really pissed me off, just wasted my entire copay on the visit. Doctor told me to take 3 200mg Advil 3 times daily, which I don't even believe help me. Advil just isn't strong enough, is it? Actually that is too much ADVIL at one time according to the bottle.
I needed a muscle relaxer.

Ever since the back injury, every morning when i wake up my calve muscles are killing me. I am mostly able to walk it off and 2 Advil help.
Is this poor blood circulation while sleeping at night or is it due to the back injury?
Could I be suffering a VITAMIN deficiency and what foods or extra vitamins may help?

No PT based on the comments above and seem able to walk it off but again I can hardly walk in the morning.
Could use some solid replies....Thanks.. Why not ask here!

If you need medical advice from FFXU, you are in very serious difficulty indeed. As a group, these are some of the least educated and most ignorant people you could find in this area.

A back injury that results in leg pain is indicative of a disc bulging/herniated/ruptured. After it bulges, it puts pressure on your sciatic nerve which goes from lower back down through to the bottom of your feet. However it's very rare to have BOTH legs hurting from a bulging disc, because it bulges on either the left or right side usually.

PT is a joke, but you may have to keep going until you get an approval for insurance to get an MRI. Thad really the only way to know what's going on.

You need to address this injury ASAP before you run the risk of permanent nerve damage to your sciatic nerve.

I went through this last year. There is a man that will help you and will not bullshit you. His name is Doctor Douglas Smith. He is in Warrenton but he is worth the drive. I wasted time and money with INOVA and UVA hospitals and nothing! 5 visits to this Smith guy and I was at 80%, 2 more and I was cured.

You probably just need some acupuncture. Or ask around on the streets about Witch Doctor Ngobo. He's a miracle-worker.

The right man for this job can be found in College Station, Texas. His name is Flip Flippen, baby. Pay for the best, ignore the rest!

i hear there were many fx co gov employees who regularly participated in healt scams...

where they allow a doctor to claim an injury they dont have, get paid (or special gov status) for the false claim, and the doctor of course gets paid for the non-action

i heard there were doctors known to do this and certain kinds of fx co gov workers flocked to them - bilking the taxpayer yet some more millions

there is only one way to deal with on the job injury in cases an employee injurs themselves

to make them more poor than if they hadn't injured themselves

if by insurance and such a person could gain wealth by injuring themselves, everyone would be injured and no-one would be working

an idiot could figure that out

Which accounts for your expertise in the matter. Exceptional idiocy has been exhibited throughout your many obnoxiously formatted posts. Asshole.

There was a study published recently that high dose ibuprofen is more effective than narcotic pain killers for pain.

This, combined with the bad press that narcotics have gotten lately has made a lot of doctors extremely reluctant to prescribe pain killers that actually work, like oxycodone or hydrocodone.

Is Ibuprofen much different that Advil for sore muscles?

Ibuprofen is generic name for Advil. The other brand is Motrin.

Too much is bad for kidney and liver. There should be a warning on the box.

There is extra-strength acetaminophen which is found in opioids like Oxycodone or Percocet.

You could try walking it off, massaging it, or soaking the calf in hot water.

Is there any back doctor in the area that will prescribe decent painkillers still? I've got the MRI proving a bad disk, but hate the idea of surgery. Seems like most docs are scared nowadays.

Or steroid injection. Neighbor has a shot every six months by her doctor since he won't recommend shoulder surgery for a live-alone.

I told you what to do already! Do you want to get better or do you want to become addicted to drugs, or are you a drug-addicted troll? In any case, STFU!

Medipren, Nuprin, and Pediacare are among other ibuprofen-based brands.
