How much does it cost to balance / align 2 front tires?

Ted Britt charged me $139.95 and I think they overcharged me. Is there a standard price list for these kind of charges?

Holy fuck dude, for just the two front tires should be no more than $80. Demand your money back or at least ask why it was so expensive.

my car, i did the alignment myself with a string

balancing is much harder and worth having someone do. $30 per wheel i think is what i paid (after screwing it up myself)

I take my cars to Ron's Used Tires for mount and balancing. They charged me $30 total to mount/balance two tires then rotate the others.

What are you putting tires on that are so inexpensive? 2 New Tires and alignment on either of my trucks is a bout 600. and on the Jeep it's probably 550. Do you drive a Yugo?

Most alignments start at around $80, they go up depending on if the car requires 4 wheel with independent rear suspension and the car needs to be balasted.

Tire balancing is usually around $30-$45 per wheel depending if this is just a spin balance or a Road Force balance which is the higher figure.

They call them "stealerships" for a reason.

Usually 100 bucks for all 4 tires. Why do you go to the stealership for an alingment? Why only align 2 wheels at a time? - you should always do all 4

If they did an alignment for $80 and $30 per wheel for balancing then that price would make sense. If you have a Jeep with a solid front axle you can align it yourself.

I didn’t buy new tires. Britt replaced the sway bar links (kit) and then aligned the front tires. However, the front end is not fixed. I took it back after driving it for 45 days and asked them to check their work. "Something is still not right." They checked and said the ball joints need to be replaced - $2000. I elected not to get it fixed at that time and When I drove out of there the front end was worse than when I drove in. The total bill for sway bar links (kit) and front end alignment $500.

If the "stealership" only charged $139.00, then that was a bargain. They must have only charged the OP for balancing one wheel.

Everyone around here has money so why not charge a lot.

Up in Wisconsin, I took my car to Pomp's Tire to get a couple new tires and they re-balanced one of my other tires that was already mounted for free. He said it only took a minute to do.

You failed to mention how many curbs you hit in the 45 days since the alignment. If your turd now needs 2 ball joints it is because you hit something. Hard - Several Times.

$140.00 For an alignment, and tire balance is a fair price. Not great, but fair.

Call me Saturday morning and we can discuss this in detail. Just don't interrupt me or ask me about what someone else told you, cause that will set me off.

That’s just it, I didn’t hit any curbs or anything more than the normal potholes around here. but nothing dramatic. The front end just keeps falling apart.

Why are you replacing the sway bar end links? Better handling?

$2000 for ball joints - wow that is a ripoff. Should be $300 per joint including labor. The part for that is $60.00 I had one side done on my volvo for $300 because I didnt feel like doing it. You have an older car, either learn to fix it yourself, get a reasonable indie mechanic or prepare to pay 000's in overcharges. Only people with money to literally throw away get repairs at the stealership after warranty. You were robbed on the balance and 2 wheel alignment too - that should have been $80.00 Stop going to the dealership. Go on yelp and find a solid indie near you.

You really need to understand cars better if you are going to own and operate an older car and you are tight on money. Even understanding the Yelp reviews requires some knowledge as half the comments there are from morons that rave about getting coffee and happily being 'in and out the door' for absurdly simply repairs at high prices. Use the internet to diagnose before you hand your car over.

That's the problem - Hitting potholes!
