I would like to give a big shout out to all the Fairfax County Firefighters. I saw their salute this morning to Firefighter Mittendorf. I traveled the beltway from Braddock Road to Tyson’s and every overpass was lit up with fire truck and ambulances with their lights flashing. It was a moderate rain and instead of sitting in their vehicles, many firefighters and paramedics were standing on top of their vehicles waiting presumably for the funeral procession even though it hadn’t come through yet.

It was a very impressive tribute to a fallen comrade. I was even proud to be a Fairfax resident based upon their impressive and respectful turnout.

Well done men … and women!

Glad to see there is some decency with most of the Fairfax's Bravest. But I'm sure the trolls will be here posting soon that they were forced to do it because of Chief Bowers.

I also rode along side of the tribute on my way to work this morning...it was very touching and made me feel like there is still a bit of love, caring and respect in this world! If we could just all love and respect each other, maybe we can help the broken! As we all are!!

What is sad is people here were calling her names because she supposedly had sex with one or 2 firefighters while married. How many married men are having sex with other women, they are not considered trash, but when a woman does it she is considered trash. Guess what,it takes 2 to tango.

As for what she was doing while married that is between her and her husband, who knows they might have had an open marriage.

I hate to say this but, if this woman was not attractive, this most likely would have never been a story.

I can say for sure, that if this were a male FF who did all this shit and then killed himself. There would be NO STORY and any "cyber bullying" would never be considered a factor at all, because he was a MAN.

The only "double-standard" is the one women demand when reality sets in.

this member of the elite fire fighting team in Fair Fax County seems to have met the standards and ability level expected. what i see is too much attack of her gender. . respect is the first order of business . as a soldier it matters and i suspect fighting fires it matters. was she one you could count on when things got bad. if yes than salute her or remain silent.. I have serious doubts that her death was a suicide but something made to look like suicide. i hope a much deeper investigation sheds light upon the truth.. the weight of her death is upon someone and i doubt it is her own doing. would she locate her remains in a treacherous location that could risk persons searching for her. was the suicide note in her own hadwriting or could someone have typed it out. was it her habit to text message her father or did someone do that. even her call in sick could have been forced and recorded to play a day later. time of death will help clear much of the time line. . the truth must come out what ever it is. . i am sorry to see the ugliness of many postings. and nice to see good ones.
