Posted by: FCPD News ()

A former Fairfax County Police officer has pleaded guilty Monday to involuntary manslaughter in the shooting death of a Springfield man in August 2013. John Geer was shot by then-Officer Adam Torres, 33, who had served on the force for seven years. Geer, 46, was unarmed when he was shot and killed.

Fairfax Police: WE COOPERATED!!! HONEST!!!
(And he is just one former employee)

Colonel Edwin C. Roessler Jr., Chief of the Fairfax County Police Department issued the following statement Monday with regard to the court action in the Torres trial:

"My thoughts and prayers are with the Geer family, the friends of Mr. Geer, our community, and the men and women of the Fairfax County Police Department as the justice system concludes its course in this tragic loss of life.

The men and women of the Fairfax County Police Department have fully cooperated with all authorities during this investigation. The action of one former employee is not reflective of the honorable work done day-in and day-out by all members of our Department."

Officer Torres was sentenced to being thrown under the bus when the Feds started looking into the cover-up.

Involuntary, meaning he didn't mean to shoot, or didn't mean for the bullets to kill the guy?

I suppose the "thought I was in danger" defense no longer works when the unarmed perp has his hands up.

At least Torres got fired, is now a felon, and did a little time. All the other FCPD murders got swept under the rug with little or no penalty.

The best part is from now on, whenever the rest of the goons get an itchy trigger finger, they are going to remember what happened to brother Torres.

John Geer still gets to be dead.

The moral of this story is NEVER, NEVER call 911 for a domestic dispute.

The cops are NOT going to help you.

It depends on what your intention is.

If you're a particularly vindictive type and you want to have your boyfriend/husband/babydaddy shot to death in a way that will result in absolutely no criminal charges to yourself, calling 911 is definitely the way to go.

Thanks for pointing out my omission, exception!

Very true.

What it means is this was the best plea the prosecutor thought he could get, and he understood that even with very good evidence there was a chance at least one juror would vote to acquit, simply because Torres was a police officer.

It looks like he would spend more time in lockup if his plea was rejected, he went to trial, and was acquitted!

Assuming he wasn't released pending trial.

Don't be an attention seeking asshole like John Geer.

You didn't need this standoff, you chose it, probably because you thought your girlfriend would feel sorry for you.

No one wanted to kill you more than you wanted to kill yourself. Sorry you died, but you handled everything wrong.

Adam, is that you? You're going to get yours, chief.

He probably plead this way as his life with his wife is finished. And he is now self destructive. But he did shoot and kill Gill and it was not justified and yes he must pay.

He probably will get some more time then that's it and as others have said Gill is dead. In time Torres can move on with his life.

Yes.. the best advice is to cooperate with the police. If your going to go down hard.. NO GAS FOR ME COPPERS !!.. Oh well. But other wise give it up surrender be peaceful and obey the officer's commands.. Just like Al Capone would have done.. Then call the lawyer ASAP and let them handle it with mouth Zipped shut. Tight as a Drum!

Now the cover up.. Those involved need to be brought also to the bar of Justice..

This 100x.

Nothing being done about the major in charge for not sending SWAT in after the shooting. Greer could have been saved but the idiot in charge thought he needed a search warrant to enter the residence and Greer bled out.

And of course Special Ed trying to cover it up. He did learn from the best, Roher.

I thought it was funny when Special Ed said the department fully cooperated. He might want to look up the special general order he invented; he just violated it.
