When the Junkies hit 'The Fan'

Was it me or did these guys sound uber amped this morning? It was as if they got a shot of morning Zoo... They claimed it was going to be the same show, but it seems already tainted somehow. Like they are trying too hard. I am already hating the fan.

Maybe they were close to getting canned like the other shows and they're scared shitless in losing their jobs, so they have to do something a bit different.

Just a guess.

A bunch of dumbasses all talking at the same time does not make for good radio.

The Junkies had Flip Saunders on again today. Didn't they just interview him last week? Aren't there any Wizards players they can interview? Didn't they draft some dudes who are playing in Summer League? Why not mix it up a bit.

This is how you know the hosts of a radio program have the IQs of Toys R Us managers.

The Junkies were discussing the moon walk this morning. One of them, I think EB or JP, asked the question, "Were the astronauts tethered when they were on the moon?" A caller said, "No." Then, the idiot said, "How did they keep from floating away?" This, after a previous discussion when the question was asked, "How many millions or billions of years ago were people cavemen?"

Go back to the fucking Toys R Us!

How about when Brett 'Einstein' Oliveria seriously pondered why as Homo Sapiens we do not have the innate urge to propagate our genetics by mating with grass. Then he pondered when eyes evolved to the point of being the trigger to mate.

Yes the moon discussion was uneducated and pathetic. You would think with the advent of Google, Wiki, etc., some semblance of savvy could be at the very least faked. Nope. Cakes, what isle are the cabbage patch dolls located?

How about JP being aghast that his book was not green-lighted after presenting it to ONE literary agent?

Hey Lurch, care to defend Osama today? Talk about the sheer brilliance of his thievery?

Of course we were also treated to yet another visit from Sac-town Mike. You feel me?

The Junkies suck, too. However, I usually listen to podcasts in the morning, so I probably won't be listening to their shitty shtick too often.

Its like they say in the art world, it doesnt matter if people love your work or hate it, as long as they feel something.

People loved Don and Mike, thats why they were so pissed at MOM, thats why that thread has 160,000+ hits from all over the USA

This thread has 13 posts because no one cares that much about the junks
Their ratings were no better than MOM

Im pretty sure Kornheiser will be in there when the junks contract is up,,,,
and you wont hear a peep of protest from the listeners

Junkies don't bother me as much as someone like Elliot, therefore I listen.

EB is the worst, and I think most casual listeners would agree. He steps over the other 3 often.

Who is the guy who comes on after Lavar and Chad?

Chris Russell. He used to host a show called "Russelmania" or something like that on the Sporting News radio network. I remember hearing it on WJFK at 3am saturday morning while driving home from work.

The Junkies consistently drag on about topics for way to lon and never advance the argument. It seems they will talk in circles for an hour about the same thing. I suspect its because they are to intellecually lazy to make an attempt at being articulate. EB has the debating skills of penchualnt teenager, Cakes just make pointless zingers that no one gets, Lurch occasionly might contribute somthing if he is paying attention or decideds to care and JP being a lawyer by training, dominates a lot of substantive conversation.

I like the Junkies but I cannot stand JP - the worst debater I have ever heard. He's also self-centered and self minvolved. Truly annoying

I think the junks and Chad are starting to realize they are filler,,,just being used until their contracts are up. Lets face it the MOM show is costing CBS plenty
for contracts that aren't up yet,, they cant afford to put everyone out to pasture.

CBS clearly could care less about ratings, the Fan was created to save costs not to entertain---just listen to the Mike Wise show, could that possiby entertain anyone?

WJFK, the Superstation, the greatest radio station of all time, was destroyed for this garbage

A source informed me the Junks may have renagotiated thier contract that takes them well into 2011. I don't know when thier last one was up. It might have been a restructure for lower money.

Whatever they are being paid, it is way too much.

Hughes and CK like The Junks for three reasons, none of which have to do with ratings (which they don't have and never will). 1) They don't complain. 2) They do remotes for advertisers. 3) No other station in this market wants them, so they are willing to renegotiate for less money if it keeps them out of managing a Toys R Us for a living.

Week 2 of "sports junkies"

Clearly JFK decided the junks cannot be entertaining just talking about sports--which is true
Back to canary fighting and exotic pets as topics

This would still qualify as the most interesting show on the fan

Also according to EB, dave matthews version of All Along the Watchtower is better
than Hendrix thus earning him my nomination for this weeks "Donkey of the week"

EB also thinks the Todo's "Africa" is one of the best songs of all time. Clearly, like the rest of the cast, his view points are awlays 100% subjective and rarely looks at anything objectively. If the show had any objectivity, it would be listenable for at least 2 of the 4 hours.

EB is the one who got his masters to be high school counselor. He should be thanking his lucky stars they got the radio gig. Had they not got the radio job, i bet Cakes would be making double the money working at Toys R US then EB would have to this point in their lives.

EB has a masters to be a high school counselor?

That would qualify him to be program director at JFK

Pretty sure a Toys R Us manager would also be qualified.

As a matter of fact, Toys R Us managers are overqualified for that job.

"Hold the Line" is the only thing close to that distinction. I will say that Toto is at least listenable for the most part.
