Which area is similar to Northern Virginia?

Are there any areas in New England, New York, Pennsylvania similar to parts of Northern Virginia (Fairfax, Oakton, Fairfax Station)?

Boston burbs are close, with all the bad traffic and mexicans everywhere.

Trees are backwards. Many more conifers, many fewer deciduous. And you don't have all those lake views and overlooks here. And while NoVa gets more annual rainfall than Seattle, they have many more partly cloudy, damp, and gloomy days than we do.

All of the urbanized US is similar to this area. Inhabited by small minded GOP idiots desperate for identity with their meaningless lives. Quite a pathetic picture, huh?

I think you have it backwards. Those areas are inhabited by Libs, just like NoVA is. The GOP is the minority in each of those areas.

Nova has its share of jerks but overall you'll find people friendlier/nicer here than those other areas.

Lines on a map mean little. Areas perhaps 50 miles east of the Appalachians are apt to have much in common in terms of fertile soils and a rolling to hilly countryside crisscrossed by numerous creeks and streams. Perfect places for expansive forests. To the north of course, things will be a little colder, and the further off the shoreline, the less susceptible to storms.

What sets NoVa apart from similar terrain to the north is the fact that there was virtually nothing built here prior to WWII. There were just endless orchards, farms, and forests. The population of Fairfax County in 1940 was smaller than the population of Leesburg today.

And what sets NoVa apart from similar terrain to the south is the fact that WWII and postwar expansion of the federal government brought the best and the brightest here in droves, to the point where we have become one of the handful of best educated communities in the country.

Politically, that has of course meant a continuing shift to the left, as retrograde rednecks and yahoos have been driven off, replaced by people with an actual intelligence. The job of exporting these turnip-seed dummies has not been completed quite yet, but give us time -- we're working on it.

Just search for where the Whole Foods are to find the nice areas. I've been looking at the western suburbs of Minneapolis, Minnetonka area. Too bad it's winter half the year. It feels a lot like Fairfax Corner in some areas.

No way. It's fucking brutal in Winter. Used to have to go that area for work now and then. The most bitter cold days of the year that we have here they call "Wednesday." It's like -20 degrees without the bs wind chill counting all the damn time. Miserable place.

Look for a 95-South sign and just keep going, Straggler. Your kind isn't welcome here anymore.
