Arlington residents petitioning against gun store opening near a daycare

Not Fairfax, but close enough, especially with the gun store that ended up in McLean.

https://www.arlnow.com/2016/02/24/developing-gun-store-offering-largest-selection-inside-the-beltway-coming-to-lyon-park/

For the past week, Arlington libs have been doing their damnedest to keep a specialty & sport shotgun store from opening in North Arlington near Fort Myer.

Here's all your local representstives who are proudly anti-capitalism, anti-Second Amendment, and anti-MYOB:

There's one in the falls church/tysons area. I went there and gave the guy at the counter some money just for pissing off so many people by opening it. The owner specifically opened it to piss off liberal retards.

How many typos and grammatical errors can there be in one letter? On General Assembly letterhead no less.

Go ahead and legislate against it if you can. Otherwise this is just bullying; unethical, if not illegal.

A gun store next door to an Army base?

Can't they move it next door to an elementary school like they did in Mclean?

I really don't care if a gun store opens or not but this is one of the most ridiculous things I've seen. I thought this was just an elaborate troll on FFXU.. only to see there's a Washington Post article about this letter. It's so poorly written and so irrational. This in particular is so striking:

"Given its proximity to Route 50 with easy access to Interstate 95, this location could be the site for potentially nefarious and illegal activities such as enabling individuals to successfully obtain fraudulent Virginia drivers licenses to purchase firearms, illegally paying Virginia residents to buy guns, creating a "black market" to sell firearms for cash or drugs, or become a magnet for robbery as was recently the case in a firearms store in McLean, Virginia."

It's like a child with a low IQ tried to think up a worst case scenario.

What I don't get is that National Pawnbrokers, located on the corner of Lee Hwy and Spout Run, literally a stones throw away, has been selling guns for over 4 decades and no one has said shit.

Whenever these guys picket in front of the cameras it's a gold mine for gunshops. Because of booming business, Nova Firearms has opened a second location in Falls Church.

Jesus, and to think people have elected these Delegates and Senators!!!

In the last paragraph, the slip up of referring to NOVA Firearms, when this is about NOVA Armory is just such a fail, not to mention all the other problems both grammatically, speculatively and factually in this letter.

Additionally, this is just intimidation from elected officials that "feel" this store does not fit the "character and values" of the neighborhood/area.

Since when did VA Delegates and Senators become the "character and value" police? Oh, maybe this is all about re-election??

Where are the thousands of signatures and emails from the many concerned Arlington businesses and residents that are so opposing this store?

At least the letter did get one thing right, firearms are dangerous, but so are kitchen knives, box cutters, cleavers, hammers, power tools, chain saws, garden equipment, volatile/flammable fluids and even a garbage disposer in the kitchen sink.

This is starting to look like government sponsored discrimination. A bakery cannot turn away a gay couple looking for a wedding cake, but state elected officials can attempt to intimidate property owners and attempt to turn their tenants against them. What a great country and state we live in.

The person or persons that felt this letter was a good idea should be recalled from office, but the pansy ass ABC'ers (Arlintonian's for a Better Community) are so liberal and out of touch with reality it is not even funny.

Because having a responsible gun-owning populace deters crime.

See the VA crime rate vs. DC/MD's crime rate

Libs only want to cherry pick their own skewed numbers so they can use them in their arguments. They never want to use the real stats. Also, the Maryland crime numbers appear lower than they actually are. The new Baltimore police chief isn't having the officers make as many arrests. The result? The crime numbers reported make it appear like there's less crime in Baltimore. What a bunch of crap.

I flipped thru my stats book to brush up a bit. What I didn't find is WHY Maryland and DC have crime rates so much higher than VA. Did I overlook it?

"Dangerous firearms" - are they selling firearms with manufacturing defects? Firearms are only dangerous in the hands of criminals, or negligent people. There is nothing inherently dangerous about a firearm. These people are the biggest bunch of bed wetters.

OK, it's wikipedia, but:

Summary[edit]
Overall, there were 177,060 crimes reported in 2014 in Virginia, including 338 murders and homicides.[1]

In 2012 Virginia had the 3rd-lowest rape rate by state after New Jersey and New York.[1][2]

The state has significantly lower crime rates than demographically similar neighboring states Maryland, North Carolina, and Tennessee.[3]

Arlingtonites live in their own little libtard bubble. The County Board is filled with dems as well as in all levels of the county government. Think Arlington County taxes are high now? It's only going to get worse as millenials backfill in behind the gen-Xers and boomers that are leaving for greener pastures.

There are conservative-minded folks scattered around Arl and it's a small & silent group. But the fact that there's a fair chance you and/or your law-abiding neighbor may legally be packing makes violent crime a rarity in Arlington (along with everywhere else in Virginia). Dems just can't connect the dots on this correlation.

Especially funny when the primary unstated objective of all of these 'liberals' is to run all of the brown people out of the county as quickly as possible in order to increase their property values and tax base.

I seriously considered a 24-hour day care- with a bar next door.

Legal shit got in my way. Had nothing to do with the bar- the gripe was with the daycare center being 24 hours!!

(seriously though about the 24 hour daycare idea)

I would have made a killing since there is NO 24-hour daycare CENTER in this area. (something like Kindercare, Childtime, etc). With all the hospital workers and other 3rd shift workers in the area that work in IT (like me)- sad they can't find reliable child care (being serious here).

I personally turned down some good jobs that were 3rd shift- because I could not find reliable child care in a Center environment during the hours outside 6am-6pm. I had to go through about 10 (yes, TEN) different private sitters while my kiddo was growing up, as they would be available for a few months, then stop doing daycare for whatever reason and I was scrambling to find another provider with maybe a week's notice!

The 3rd shifters are SHORT when it comes to daycare. We can make more money on that shift and are willing to pay a premium for those hours...but good luck finding a babysitter!

It was EASY work too- watch the kid sleep and make sure the place doesn't catch fire overnight. I offered upwards of $20 an hour to these sitters (I was making $40 an hour + back then)...and no one wanted to do it!

But back to the main idea here- hmmm....

So,,, a fucking liberal stated "Ashley Guindon, killed by a "law-abiding citizen".

Really? A black man killed his wife, hid outside in the bushes, when police arrived he shot and killed the first officer on scene.

And this to you is a law abiding citizen?

You liberals should loose your ability to reproduce.
