So I got pulled over while I was pretty drunk...

and got away with a speeding ticket; going 74 in a 55.

He made me do all the tests, blew a .115, counted backwards, alphabet from D to S, one leg up for 30 seconds, and he told me he didn't have enough evidence to give me a DUI...

Has this happened to anyone else?!

My friend asked me the same thing lol.

He was riding in the passenger seat and got a DUI 4 months ago.

As soon as he saw the blue lights he told me I'm fucked and my life is over...

He was pissed/really surprised that I just got away with a speeding ticket.

I know of several people who have gone through the same sort of thing.

Usually, the breathalyzer occurs after the cop has given you the field sobriety test and you've passed it with flying colors, but he still has his doubts.

He'll tell you he can't use it in court since he has no reason to administer it, but just wants to know for his own curiosity.

If 4 of my friends are not all lying to me about this, then the cops are generally pretty honest, since once they see something above the legal limit you'd think they'd figure out some way to bust you. Or perhaps the cops believe in the intent of the law rather than the blunt-force application of it, and figure if you pass the field sobriety test, it shouldn't matter what your BAC is, since the intent is to prevent dangerous behaviors from people who are affected by alcohol, not just to wholesale arrest all people who have consumed alcohol.

1 friend was told to "drive carefully", another friend got a speeding ticket and was told to drive to the next exit, go to the nearest public parking and call a cab, the third friend was followed the mile and a half to his house and told to go inside and sleep and not go back out driving, and the fourth got a ticket and was told to drive carefully.

If these stories are true, I don't have so much of a problem about how they enforce DUI. At least it's not as heavy-handed and arbitrary as it sounds in the media and stories you hear from people who got busted.

Fuck it man, fuck the po-lice lol.

They busted my ass every time for DUI. Well, ok, there were the other times I somehow got released with nothing, otherwise I'd have like 6 fucking DUIs lol.
Twice I had chicks with me in the car; yes, hot chicks, you fucking n00bs; so maybe the cops had some pity on them not having a ride home if they took my ass to the ADC. lol
I spend most of my takehome pay on drinking and cabs now though. Cabs are expensive! lol Man I wish I had the balls to fire up my Accord when I'm juiced up and just drive through a substation; fucking po-po! lol

How effing clueless are you to be doing a 74 in a 55 while boozed up...he should have just thrown you in the clink for pure stupidity. Next time you drive pissed, maybe you should practice your drifting skills too, Vin

Still...pretty lucky prick i'd say

I've been tested also. Fairfax cops generally pull over people for traffic violations first then they'll test you for DWI. I've been tested twice after drinking a little too much. I was nervous as hell thinking I wouldn't pass the tests but did fine on all the tests. The cop claimed I didn't make a full stop at a red light.

I blew a .14 and the cop told me to park it in a parking lot and call a cab. That he would be back by later to make sure the car stayed in the parking overnight. I called a cab, cab cost $25 to get home.

Didn't make a full stop at a red light? That means you ran the red light.

That's reckless driving, isn't it?

I think they can get you with that if you are approaching a red light expecting it to turn green by the time you get there, and maintain enough speed that if the light timing suddenly went haywire you wouldn't be stopped before the line at the light. Then the police say "what if there was someone in the crosswalk?!" and you say "then I would have stopped because I would have seen him there, you republikan, lol pwn3d!!1!1!! "

I was making a right turn. I made a stop, the cop said "I didn't come to a complete stop." I told the cop very nicely, "That was a complete stop." I'm 100% positive I made a complete stop.

§ 46.2-835. Right turn on steady red light after stopping.

Notwithstanding the provisions of § 46.2-833, except where signs are placed prohibiting turns on steady red, vehicular traffic facing a steady red signal, after coming to a full stop, may cautiously enter the intersection and make a right turn.

Such turning traffic shall yield the right-of-way to pedestrians lawfully within an adjacent crosswalk and to other traffic using the intersection.

And, because few know it, you can make a left on red from a one-way street onto a one-way street unless it is marked otherwise.

I guarantee I wasn't going 74; He told me he caught me at 71, but wrote 74 on the ticket, the MAXIMUM under reckless...

But the man let me get away from a DUI, So I wasn't going to argue with him.
